Mark Strong Talks About Sinestro, Tomar-Re & Kilowog in Green Lantern

The comic book movie veteran describes his place in the film and why his time on the set was so late into production, as well as the characters he has already seen designs for.

Over the past few weeks, Green Lantern fans has been privy to the first images of Mark Strong as Sinestro, as well as CGI renderings of Lantern Corps members Tomar-Re and Kilowog. In a brief interview with MTV News, Strong talks about his role in the film:

"[Most of my scenes are in space], indeed, which is why I've come in at the end of shooting. Because now we've moved into the studio and into blue screen — obviously not green screen, because Green Lantern would disappear! We're in blue screen, and most of [my work takes place] in space."

Regarding his thoughts about the alien designs he has seen so far:

"Tomar-Re is in [the movie] and it's an amazing look — kind of half-bird and half-fish. Kilowog is in it and he's a massive, great, big bulldog kind of character. There are others, too, but I won't ruin it."

Of course, fans don't have to wait any longer to see these Green Lantern characters for themselves. Simply follow the links above to get a look at both Tomar-Re and Kilowog.

Mark Strong is awesome! Makes sense for Sinestro to be mostly in space. Nice find, Poni.

I'm liking the way Green Lantern seems to be turning out... Even though DC takes a long time to put there movies out they seem to be getting it right (including the animated ones) Perhaps Marvel could slow down just a bit to perfect things...

Gotta admit Watchmen and Dark Knight were pretty brilliant...

@Witty I would love to see the scene from Sectret Origin where Sinestro shows up in Hals flight path, destroys the jet and reassembles it. True it would be a minor thing compared to the rest of the spectacle of the movie but still a cool little moment.

wolverinesfury@ We better not see Sinestro until the end of the first film or in the second film. Sinestro was Hal's mentor and friend until he went off the deep end, so this film should show that bond and connection being formed in order to deliver the story effectively.

@Wolverine No. It's all good. It doesn't mean that at all. 1. The other cast hadn't wrapped. 2. Movie's are almost never shot sequentially. They could shoot a scene on the last day that takes place at the beginning of the film. An actors shooting schedule has no bearing on their scene placement within a movie.

wolverinesfury@ My bad. I am thinking when people mention Sinestro, they are talking the evil Sinestro. I don't want to see THAT until the end of the first film or 2nd film. I think I am now understanding that you want to see the good Thaal, which I agree. As mentioned they don't sequentially, so I don't think it will be an issue. They won't ignore the relationship developed between Thaal and Hal.

Good stuff! That's why they don't call him Mark Weak.

@Naji- Just because most of his scenes are in space doesn't mean that one scene (or a version of it) won't be in the movie. You're right, though. That is perfect Sinestro.

This movie is seriously gonna be the S@#t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My only concern is the length of the film, it really needs to be at least 2 !/2 hours if the want toget close to being as epic as it should be.
On the other hand WB has had no problems with film length IMO.
