Christian Bale Says He Never Had Any Official Discussions About Joining JUSTICE LEAGUE

Re-confirming that his time as Batman is finished and that a new actor will take over, The Dark Knight Trilogy star Christian Bale also says that he was never officially in talks to reprise the iconic role for Warner Bros.' superhero ensemble Justice League.

Despite Christopher Nolan and others involved saying that The Dark Knight Trilogy is in its own stand-alone universe that doesn't include superheroes, rumors have persisted that Christian Bale's Batman would find his way into a wider DC universe alongside the likes of Henry Cavill's Superman. Man Of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer (who is also signed on to pen Justice League) confirmed recently that a separate incarnation of Bruce Wayne exists in the Superman film's universe, definitely ruling out a crossover between the two franchises. Now, speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Bale himself weighs in on the idea of donning the cape and cowl yet again for Justice League. "We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy. Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well."

Despite Nolan being in talks to oversee the DC Cinematic Universe and produce Justice League earlier this year (these negotiations bore no fruit as the writer-director will not be involved with the DC superhero ensemble), Bale says that he himself never had any official discussions on the matter. "I have no information, no knowledge about anything. I’ve literally not had a conversation with a living soul. I understand that they may be making a Justice League movie, that’s it." He also had this to say on passing the costume down to the next actor. "It’s a torch that should be handed from one actor to another. So I enjoy looking forward to what somebody else will come up with." Bale said in the past that he would be open to a fourth outing as Batman, as long as Nolan was involved and came up with a suitable story. However, it's definite that that particular universe is finished. Did you want to see The Dark Knight Trilogy expanded to include Man Of Steel and other superhero films, or are you happy that we're getting a new Batman in the near foreseeable future?
