UPDATE: I haven't seen this in black and white myself so I can't say for certain whether it's true, but according to Geek Tyrant, in the issue Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy says that it won't just be a new trilogy we are getting, and that Disney plans of pumping out "two or three films a year". A lot more Star Wars than anyone was expecting I'm sure!

I think she was referring to Lucasfilm releasing 2-3 movies a year (Not actual Star Wars movies a year).

No, please, no. The idea of new Star Wars movies is kind of growing on me, but don't over do it by pumping out stuff needlessly. These should be event movies, meaning the audience should be left wanting more and be made to wait to further anticipation.

After the next trilogy, if they want to make more films go off into spin-offs, maybe focusing on other Jedi, or bounty hunters, or something else. But don't over do it to the point that people can no longer even collect the films because they'd take up too much room.

i feel betrayed by this i know we might get one or two half way decent movie but disney will crap on the 30+ years of expanded universe...

and let me just add toy story 3 was unnecessary (really andy's going to college??) to have the guy who penned that shows that these movies will be geared more towards kids ala jar jar binks and ewoks

@0bstreperous To be fair, the first three movies (4,5, and 6) were sort of targeted towards kids. It was cheesy good fun that also pleased adults.



The Prequels were more serious and the story was not well thought out, and they failed.

Two-Three movies a year could effect on the final product. I think its better to take time with the story.
Unless they already have story ready.

Hope they dont focus on the original characters. Solo, Luke and Leia should cameo if nothing. Darth Vader better stay dead.

I'm actually all for this idea. The fact of the matter is Starwars is just to big of a universe to properly depict in one film. There's so many characters, so many different stories to be told that not even a trilogy can do the Starwras universe any justice.

This means that Lucas Film is set to go beyond the Skywalker story, which a lot of you are clamoring for.

I'm 95% certain this quote was misread, misheard, or misconstrued. The press release from Lucasfilm when they announced the purchase by Disney said a new film every 2-3 years, not 2-3 films per year. It seems that they just got the facts a little bit mixed up.

I'd be in favor of some animated movies like splinter of the mind's eye, shadows of the empire, and the zahn trilogy ... All in glorious CGI.

This could be very good or very bad!!! - although there are many options, such as animated movies, CGI movies and not just live action.

I just hope we get to see the planned live action TV show.

I met David Prowse yesterday and was talking to him about the buzz and he said Lucas will be heavily involved with the story for at least the initial new trilogy.
