Zoe Saldana Says AVATAR Sequels Will Begin Filming Back-To-Back In Early 2014
Saldana, who plays Neytiri in James Cameron's science fiction mega-blockbuster Avatar, confirms that filming will begin on the two sequels early next year and that they will be shot back-to-back.
Zoe Saldana certainly has a busy schedule in the coming years. In addition to returning as Uhura in May 17th's Star Trek Into Darkness, the actress also recently committed to playing Gamora in Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy (which will begin filming next month for an August 1st, 2014 release). But where do James Cameron's planned sequels to Avatar fit in? Appearing on The Jonathan Ross Show recently, Saldana confirmed that she will begin filming the sequels in early 2014 (despite the previously suggested late 2013 start date). She also reiterated likely plans to shoot the films back-to-back. "I think that they're doing a part two and a part three and they're probably going to shoot it at the same time...If we just do two and then wait, I'll probably be 45 or 50 by the time we get to part three. It takes a long time, it's a very hard process." It was previously reported that Avatar 2 will be released in 2015 at the earliest, but a 2014 start date (specifically with shooting both sequels back-to-back) makes that uncertain right now. What would you like to see in the Avatar sequels?
