UPDATE: Former WWE Superstar Edge Is Playing 'Atom Smasher' In THE FLASH Season 2

We still don't know the identity of the metal-headed bruiser glimpsed in these initial The Flash season 2 set snaps, but we do know who's playing him. A couple of new pics reveal that it's none other than former WWE champion Adam Copeland, AKA Edge...

Who is the rather silly looking new bad guy crashing Central City's "Flash Day"? Well we still don't know the name of the character (some speculate that it could be a version of Atom Smasher?) but thanks to an Instagram user we do have a pic of him without his helmet, and any WWE fan should immediately recognize Adam Copeland/Edge as the guy under it. Copeland was forced to retire a couple of years ago due to injury and has been acting in small TV and film roles ever since, but this could potentially be his biggest part yet - depending on how much screen time this villain gets and if he'll even remove the mask on the show that is!

UPDATE: It seems this is indeed Atom Smasher. Here's how the CW describes him: "One of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season, Atom Smasher has come to Central City to kill The Flash. His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him."

http://www.omegaunderground.com/2015/07/15/was-chris-pine-suppose-to-be-announced-as-green-lantern-at-san-diego-comic-con/

"Several vendors form Virginia’s Comic-Con that will be held next month received emails regarding an upcoming variant cover for Green Lantern/Star Trek The Spectrum Wars #1. Apparently a new cover is going to be released exclusive at that comic-con showcasing Chris Pine face as both Hal Jordan and Captain Kirk. The email stated not to post anything about this until after the San Diego Comic-Con announcement for him joining the DCCU. Of course we know that never came but it may be due to just timing. He didn’t get to sign onto the film in time for the DC Comics panel announcement. But with VA Comic-Coin coming next month could DC Comics officially announce Chris Pine as Hal Jordan? That would make that variant cover even more special."

Last time I watched wrestling, Shawn Michaels has just thrown Marty Janetti through the barbershop window but Adam Copeland has been a regular on Haven for the last 4 seasons so I would hardly say playing 'random bad dude of the week'in one episode of The Flash is his biggest role ever.

Good find dude, they could announce it at D23 too.

Remember that episode of the sixt season of Smallville that was centered around
online wrestling and felt like an excuse to have "famous" wrestlers show up?

RogueOne,

1) You don't know that he's just gonna be a random bad guy yet, he could have a decent supporting role.

2) Nobody watches Haven.

@DrKinsolving It was actually pretty good. Solid performances from Kingsley and Reynolds. My friends wanted me to see it with them and I hadn't heard of it, so I allowed myself to go in knowing absolutely nothing of the film, and boy was it a breath of fresh air. I thoroughly enjoyed it! And now tonight, the Ant Man!

The thing I really dislike about this villain's look is that he's got a weird mask... and is wearing a black hoodie. C'mon, CW, surely there can be something else your bad guys can wear.

How is this his 'biggest' role? This is no different to any other role he has had. Even if he was the main villain of the series, it would be a 'big' role

The Flash is not a big show in any way at all. It doesn't do amazing ratings and doesn't make millions and millions through marketing. This isn't Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead. Its a small show on CW that most people have never heard of. Ask someone if they know who Grant Gustin is and no one will know. (I like the Flash but a lot of people on here overate it and think its the biggest show in the world)

He has a mask on that sucks. Man the Edge was great. His career ended to soon. guy has a lot of charisma.

I still believe he's Tar Pit and until I see more I'll continue to think that. Because I can see the CGl being added to the mask and body later. The reason why is because If I remember correctly that's the same way the first pictures for Fantastic Four's Human Torch looked too.
