We've been shown some first-look pics at the WATCHMEN tie-in animated DVD "Tales of the Black Freighter" which hits store shelves on March 24th. It's based on the "comic within the comic" included with the Watchmen and stars the voice of Gerard Butler as a marooned castaway who's desperate to return home to warn his family about "The Black Freighter," a haunted pirate ship that steals the souls of the damned. Awesome ROR. Thanks man. The pic with the two ladies decapitated heads dangling from the ship so badass. This toon and the Watchmen movie are going to be freakin' phenomenal. REGARDLESS of the over exaggerated use of Slooooo mooooooo. It's going to be SWEETNESS!

But ya, this looks really good. Can't wait! Although I probably am going to wait until it's included in a special edition dvd with the movie.

Read a little on the history of the Black Freighter and it's plot as a basis and subplot for what is happening concurrently throughout the Watchmen..I hate it when people like you take something completely out of context with your feeblemindedness and make it about something like race or religion with nothing but a poorly concieved statement to back up your claim...

Ok it's official. Either Supermike is a mentally challenged 10 year old or he is full of crap because nobody in their right mind would even think of saying what he just said unless they are one of the two things I listed. I'm beginning to believe that Supermike may just be the biggest troll ever.

So will the DVD contain the live action scenes (like with the kid and news vender and all the other people)? If so, I think that is brilliant especially since we'll see it after Watchmen it'll kinda give a view of the "accident" through regular people's eyes and the film will focus on the heroes.

Oh and Supermike- it's called The "Black" Freighter because it is (*drumroll*) black (which is a color).
Maybe they thought the aquamarine or macaroni-yellow freighter sounded stupid, but thats just my opinion.

All of this towards SuperMike. Hey don't forget it is Black History month in the U.S. There have been a lot of other movies and show that had other colors in it. Not being racist. I believe u did take it out of context. Did you by chance read the Watchmen?

seriously, to supermike try to check the background of each comic book theme or movies that uses the word black...nick fury became black in the ultimates. r.downey jr. became black in tropic thunder. Black panther is black. even black eyed peas are not all black.

i believe no comic book that was made to be racial or some sort. if 300 graphic novel misfigured persians and other asians...no one took it seriously though it is quite offensive...

is this live action plus animation? i cant wait for march!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing some shots of the kid and the newsstand guy in this, but I hope they're not totally removed from the movie itself. Their presence is important for the whole "man in the street" perspective to the events unfolding in the Watchmen. I'm glad that they decided to do The Black Freighter as a separate thing so that we can at least get to enjoy that part of the Watchmen's story. I certainly plan to check this out when it's released. Hey, this freighter IS a ship, and it IS in the ocean, maybe we'll see our missing squid somewhere! ;o)

This is going to be the best thing coming out of the Watchmen film because Snyder will actually be able to live up to his word of absolute novel to film translation. I am actually looking forward to this since it is too easy for anyone to screw up. I still think the live-action film is going to be trash due to lack of squid. Inclusion of Black Freighter's accuracy will make the film look bad.

She's not an academy level actress, no Kate Winslett, no one is saying that. But is she as bad as say... PMI-001 Winona Rider? PW0-104 I don't think so, but that's all point of view I guess...
