The first episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law arrived on Disney+ earlier today, but were you paying close attention while watching? If so, you might have noticed a QR code in the background that, if you decided to scan it, will take you to a free comic book.
The title in question is The Savage She-Hulk #1, Jennifer Walters' first appearance and origin story. Released in 1980, the comic was written by Stan Lee and featured artwork by Steve Buscema. In the issue, Bruce Banner pays his cousin a visit to tell her that he's secretly The Hulk.
However, when Jen is gunned down by some mobsters, he's forced to give her a blood transfusion that results in the mild-mannered lawyer transforming into the Sensational She-Hulk.
As for where this QR can be found in "A Normal Amount Of Rage," be on the lookout when Jen enters that bar shortly after she transforms for the first time. We're anticipating future episodes also including these codes, so it will be interesting to find out which other comics are offered as Marvel looks to get viewers better acquainted with the fan-favourite character.
We'd bet on Dan Slott's She-Hulk run being included at some point as both that and John Byrne's run are clearly the main inspiration for what we're seeing in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It's always good to start with an origin story, though!
"A verdict has been reached on She-Hulk, and it’s a mighty Marvel masterpiece!" we said in our review of the Disney+ series. "Tatiana Maslany is sensational as the lawyer-turned-superhero, while the show’s quirky, offbeat tone perfectly encapsulates the weirder side of the MCU in a way you’ve never seen before."
