Will we be seeing new versions of fatalities from a popular video game franchise remake in the near future? Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that talks are under way for a remake of Mortal Kombat.

The site is reporting that Warner Bros. have been in talks with writer Oren Uziel to write the new film. Uziel's unproduced screenplay Shimmer Lake was named to the infamous Black List in 2009, which ranks the best unproduced screenplays currently on the market.

The 1995 Mortal Kombat film spawned the sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation in 1997. No further details on the reboot were known, but stay tuned right here as we'll be sure to keep you updated on the status of this remake.
