James McAvoy Reveals More X-MEN: DOFP Details; Wolverine The One Who Travels Back In Time?

In the comic book version of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it was Kitty Pryde who travelled back in time. However, it now appears as if it will be Hugh Jackman's Wolverine who takes on that role in the Bryan Singer helmed movie. Read on for details!

"I'm excited about the 70s," James McAvoy told Empire Magazine in a recent interview (which took place before he headed to Montreal to shoot the "inbetweequel") when asked what he's most looking forward to about working on the Bryan Singer helmed follow-up to X-Men: First Class. "I'm excited about my costumes, which are [frick]ing awesome. He's on his way to becoming Patrick Stewart, but he's not quite there yet. The '70s costumes are hilarious , they're quite psychedelic, which is great." Their chat then turned to the plot of the movie and the magazine seemed to indicate that Wolverine will travel back either with or instead of Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde. "Hugh's got a big part," the Scottish actor teased. "You throw Hugh Jackman in there and he comes with so much rage. I'm really looking forward to working with him. He'd better [frick]ing bring it. I'm excited to work with McKellen to." Talking of McKellen, for anyone worried that the relationship between Magneto and Professor Xavier will be put on the back burner in the movie, McAvoy said they needn't worry. "It's working off what we set up in the first 'new' one. The relationship between Charles and Erik is being explored in the future and in the past."

STARRING:

James McAvoy as Charles Xavier
Michael Fassbender as Magneto
Nicholas Hoult as Beast
Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique

People are going to be mad if this is true because wolverine always gets the light shined on him in these movies, but I'm ok with it!

You'd think that if one were posting an article titled: "James McAvoy Reveals More X-MEN: DOFP Details; Wolverine The One Who Travels Back In Time?" That said poster would include the ACTUAL part of the article where they talk about Wolverine being the time traveler instead of: "Their chat then turned to the plot of the movie and the magazine seemed to indicate that Wolverine will travel back either with or instead of Ellen Page's Kitty Pryde." Why would you use that as the TITLE of the article and then NOT include it in the actual article itself???

Yeah, this is sounding almost as good as X-Men Origins: Wolverine. By the way, I happen to be one of the countless millions of people that thought X-Men Origins: Wolverine sucked almost as bad as Green lantern.

Hey if it works, go for it. I mean I wouldn't want to see the X-mens Kitty from the movies going back. She's pretty lame. Just as long as Collussus is getting more movie love this time around. Cause seriously...come on!

Seriously? [frick] WOLVERINE. He is so overexposed it is not even funny. And taking away Kitty Pryde's most prominent and important role in X-Men history just so Wolverine can get the spotlight...Again... No I call BS. I swear if Kitty Pryde doesn't get a good amount of screen time in this flick I will be pissed. She had two small cameos in the first two films, then had a bigger part in the 3rd film, which sucked, and now they are replacing her with Wolverine? [frick] that. Why even Call it days of Future Past if they are barely even going to follow the story. At least X2-X-Men United had the common sense not to use the name "God Loves, Man Kills" Because A lot of that story was used for X2, but it was clearly NOT that story. GUH! I was so excited for this because this is my favorite storyline in the comics below "GOd Loves, Man Kills" If they [frick] it up i will be pissed.

Maybe bishop will travel back in time with kitty and get the 70's wolverine to help to stop an assassination. That's what I originally thought when I saw the pics of jackman with the old hair. If wolverine is traveling back in time then he would have the same haircut at his pics from The Wolverine...

meh but it's hardly surprising knew this was going to be the case when it was announced that Wolverine wouldn't just be cameoing in the film. Would have preffered it if Bishop was the time traveller along with Rouge and Shadowcat whilst Wolverine gets disentergrated by the sentinels. Then again recruiting Wolverine in the 70's would alter the timeline, maybe that's what they'll do

thenerdicon4 - 5/28/2013, 2:18 PM
@Fettastic, yeah, because believe it or not Wolverine is not the only interesting X-Men character. If they want to make him the front runner just give him his own seperate series of films and take him out of the X-Men movies. He was not front and center in Days of Future Past. he played a large role in the future part, but in the past part he was just another member of the team. Kitty Pryde is an interesting character. Jesus Christ, people on this site seem to think that super powers are the only thing that make a character interesting.

With McKellen? Maybe Xavier will move his mind to future, like in Wolverine & The X-Men cartoon.
By the way, Wolverine rulez!

Guess Fox is doing with Wolverine what Marvel has done unfortunately.
And that is put him in everything and make him the end all be all

I'll keep my positivism until I see the trailers and have more info regarding the other x-men.

I have faith in them this time. The other x-men will shine on this much better than on previous movies, even if their roles arent huge. But I think their scenes will be better, specially with the action and with some decent lines here and there.
