I'm surprised that John Carter made the Top 10. The effects in it were good, but never thought of them as Oscar worthy.

Avengers or Prometheus

Skyfall, Snow White and the Huntsman Ann's John Carter are definitely not going to win. I HOPE The Avengers might win, but I think Prometheus had the best visuals on this list.

The Dark Knight Rises also had some pretty awesome visual effects, just look at that opening scene.

I'll just say this.. Transformers didn't win

TDKR had amazing effects.. Look at the plane heist and the climax of the film...

With that being said, I think it will come down to Life of Pi or Prometheus

The Amazing Spider-Man won't get it..
The cgi was lackluster in some scenes

I'm going to say it'll probably be a toss up between Carter or Avengers, but you never know as I might be surprised if TDKR makes it.

TDKR, Hobbit and Prometheus would be my picks,
the a lot of the Avengers had crap CGi, there is one scene where Downey Jr's face looks like someone just photoshopped his faace on the armour

For the Hobbit it will probs get the same treatment as LOTR, a nomination, but will sweep everything once the trilogy is done.

This is a tough catergory this year and would be good to see a CBM win one, or even get a nomination.

TASM will not be nominated. Simply because of that horrid CG-mouse that looks like something froma SyFy original movie

Prometheus gets my vote. While I loved The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises as films, their VFX weren't anything spectacular. And The Avengers' visual effects and The Hobbits' visual effects is just standard ILM/Weta stuff. I haven't seen any other film on that list though.

@thewonderer I have a question that I wanted to ask you for awhile: Do you read comics now, have you read comics a lot in the past, or even Batman comics because I've NEVER seen you comment on articles pertaining to comics? I'm just wondering...

Actually, I did see Skyfall and SW&TH, I just didn't notice them. And...they weren't anything special either.

I'm leaning towards The Hobbit... Prometheus had a BUNCH of establishing shots that made the movie look like half of a tour guide dvd documentary than a sci-fi horror film. Marvel's The Avengers would come in a close second for me because that last half hour of almost seamless invasion fight in the film was BOSS! Skyfall was a bit of a standard fare. Pi was ok, but I felt I've had a bit of deja vu at some scenes as if I was watching an anime that's been copied into real life. TDKR as dark as it was, it was pretty much just like the rest of the Nolan Bat-films - though TDK was a little better, it was still nothing "new". I've yet to see Cloud Atlas, but I'm remedying that this weekend, but I've heard good things about it. As for TASM.... *sigh*... I still like the fights between Ock and Spidey in Raimi's Spider-Man 2, so I don't think TASM did anything new.
