Zak Penn Not Credited On The Avengers Script; Joss Whedon IS The Only Writer!

Bad Ass Digest have cleared things up a little for anyone who was still under the impression that Zak Penn's script for The Avengers would have anything to do with the movie adaptation coming out next year. While he was at first hired to pen the movie, it seems that the belief Joss Whedon has rewitten the entire thing. (rather than just improving a few things as he reportedly did with Captain America: The First Avenger) Here's an excerpt from what the site had to say on the matter. You can read more by following the link below.

Zak Penn is not credited on The Avengers. The only name on the script is Joss Whedon, who did a page one rewrite. Now, Whedon and Penn were both working with the same source material and producer mandates, so it’s possible the drafts have similarities and that future WGA wrangling could come into play – perhaps this is why Penn is being vague – but for the time being know that Whedon is the official solitary writer of The Avengers.

I guess this explains his refusal to comment on the script when asked! (you can find that interview by clicking HERE)While this is not exactly breaking news, I'm sure those of you that were concerned the writer of Elektra and X-Men: The Last Stand would have too much of an influence on the upcoming movie, can now rest easy! Be sure to share your thoughts on this news in the usual place!

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!
