Bad Ass Digest have cleared things up a little for anyone who was still under the impression that Zak Penn's script for
The Avengers would have anything to do with the movie adaptation coming out next year. While he was at first hired to pen the movie, it seems that the belief Joss Whedon has rewitten the entire thing. (rather than just improving a few things as he reportedly did with
Captain America: The First Avenger) Here's an excerpt from what the site had to say on the matter. You can read more by following the link below.
Zak Penn is not credited on The Avengers. The only name on the script is Joss Whedon, who did a page one rewrite. Now, Whedon and Penn were both working with the same source material and producer mandates, so it’s possible the drafts have similarities and that future WGA wrangling could come into play – perhaps this is why Penn is being vague – but for the time being know that Whedon is the official solitary writer of The Avengers.
