[UPDATED] RUMOR: Ellen Page Secretly In The Dark Knight Rises And Is Playing Barbara Gordon?

This rumor's pretty wild but after the revelation that The Dark Knight Rises is set 8 years after the events of The Dark Knight, pretty much all bets are off at this point.

Well, this week is full of more TDKR news than you can shake a stick at. Now, comes the latest rumor (courtesy of TDKR Rumors) that Ellen Page will be in The Dark Knight Rises and she will be playing Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara. Of course, most fans know that she goes on to become none other than Batgirl. If this news would've emerged say...48 hrs ago, we would've all said "no way, that's not possible" but with Director Christopher Nolan dropping the huge bombshell that The Dark Knight Rises will pick-up 8 years after the events of The Dark Knight; it makes this rumor very plausible. Of course, there's absolutely no guarantee that even if Page is in the film, she will don any tights. More likely, if (emphasis on if) she is in the movie it will be as a small bit part or a quick cameo.

[UPDATED] Screenrant has received information from numerous sources that the above image is indeed fake.

In looking at this rumor even further, take this interview from way back in 2008, where MTV tried to pry whether Barbara Gordon was indeed in The Dark Knight Rises. We of course, now know that she was in the movie and appeared to be about 8 or 9 yrs old so that would maker her roughly 17 yrs old in The Dark Knight Rises.

With that smug smile, is it possible that Nolan knew way back then that he would be expanding the role of Barbara Gordon in the third movie? Of course until we find out more information, take this rumor with salt at the ready!

At the end of The Dark Knight, Gordon arrives to see Two-Face holding his family hostage.
With Melinda McGraw (Barbara Gordon), Nathan Gamble (James Gordon Jr.) and Hannah Gunn (Gordon's Daughter).

The Dark Knight Rises is an upcoming epic superhero film. Based on the DC Comics character Batman, the film will be the third and final installment in Nolan's Batman film series, and is a sequel to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. The film will be directed by Christopher Nolan, written by Nolan and his brother Jonathan and starring Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, and Morgan Freeman as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon, and Lucius Fox, respectively. The film will take place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight and will introduce the characters of Selina Kyle and Bane—portrayed by Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy—two villains from the Batman mythology.

Nolan was initially hesitant about returning to the series for a third time, but agreed to come back after developing a story with his brother and David Goyer that he felt would conclude the series on a satisfactory note. Filming has taken place across the world, including locations in India, London, Glasgow, Los Angeles, New York, Newark, and Pittsburgh. Nolan is utilizing IMAX cameras for more of the filming to optimize the quality of the picture. As with The Dark Knight, viral marketing campaigns began early during production to help promote the upcoming film. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for release in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada on July 20, 2012, by Warner Bros.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt-John Blake
Ellen Page-Barbara Gordon (maybe)
Tom Hardy-Bane
Marion Cotillard-Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul
Michael Caine-Alfred

Don't see how TDKR being 8 years later makes it so that "all bets are off". I guess just cause it takes place 8 years later, the likliehood of stupid crap rumors suddenly skyrockets? Are we to give credence to this? You know how easy it is to start a rumor? All it takes is some chump on a website to say "rumor has it that Batgirl is in the movie". The rumor is based on nothing. So don't reward this crap with exclamations of "interesting!" when your BS detector should be going off.

Eight year time lapse? So what?

when i posted i wasn't really giving any thought that this is true. I am sure it is fake. I was just making a statement that Nolan does like to use the same actors that he is familiar with, look at some of his other films as well.

why don't we all call this movie by it's real name? Inception 2.0 lol :P

Well I hope once Nolan is done, we get Batman with some kick ass villains on screen. I'm not trash talking Nolan or TDKR but I really want to see some of my favorite baddies on screen.

That door is from a 4 room honey wagon trailer.

i have a hard time buying that an oscar nominated actress on a 250 million movie would get a trailer smaller than my spank bank closet.

AND NO WAY are they gonna let that info sit out in daylight on someone's dressing room door. And production NEVER puts both talent name and character unless they are completely unknown.

I smell bullsh1t

Ellen Page would make a cool young Barbara though, but my main pick would be Emma Stone. I would pick her for alot of things though, just to see her.

its hard to tell, but i would say that little girl in the pic is older than 6 or 7, just from the size of her in general, I have a 7 year old, and they are still pretty young and small, she looks a little bigger;

And who's Tom Berenger playing?

and who's Leo DiCaprio playing?

I doubt Nolan's gonna get this many Inception ducks in a row.

prepubescent, she is 24. Did you not like her character in Juno, she isn't actually like that. In her interviews I always thought she seemed cool and a little humble. I have heard she is a very nice Girl. Also I think she is a good actress. Just because you didn't like a character, dont hate on her... if that is the reason.

Even if Barbra or Dick are not in the movie, I hope there is some reference of them. Like maybe Bruce will probably be going to the circus or Gordon talks about his daughter Barbra.
