Zack Snyder Says More Obscure DC Characters Are Coming Down The Line

While giving a farewell to Detroit at a local radio station Zack Snyder revealed that lesser known characters will be appearing in future Justice League films, and he even names one in particular.

      Remember back in August when Batman V Superman director Zack Snyder called in at a local radio station to defend Aquaman and even drop a few character hints? Well now he's back at that same radio station to drop another hint, this time about the future of the Justice League. At the 7:35 mark Zack Snyder mentions, "As we add to the justice League we bring in some of the more obscure, like Blue Beetle or something". The DC universe is just starting, but it's never bad to think about the future. Could this mean that characters like the Blue Beetle, Martian Manhunter, Booster Gold, and Hawkgirl have a spot for them sometime in Justice League 2 or 3?

Expanding DCCU is on the horizon. We won't get a bunch of solo movies and sequels that show characters we've already seen. We'll be getting diversity right off the bat

"like Blue Beetle or something."

I'm glad this guy is the one in charge of all of my favorite characters. His words just scream passion and certainty.

Imagine if WB just doesn't make any sequels besides JL. Just make solos of new characters every year.

After we get the core team, Id like to see other heroes join the fight along the justice league such as Blue Beetle, Beast Boy and Terra, Shazam, Nightwing, Hawkman or girl, Wally West martian manhunter will be like Black Panther and only appear after like ten years of an established universe.. They could help with the Darkseid battle or something and then after the battle Cyborg, Nightwing, Shazam, Beast Boy, Terra, Kid Flash and Blue Beetle form a new team called "The Titans" or something and then the others (Martian Manhunter/ Hawkman/girl etc..) Join the Justice League!

Cool. Can't wait for them to actually start making these films. All we've seen is MOS and while it was great IMO, I want to see more of the bigger picture.

@ComicalDisaster Well with that attitude why is Marvel making another Thor, MOS made more money at the Box Office.

Anyone else ever thought that Zach Snyder seems like he could definitely be related to Mark Ruffalo? They have similar quirks, and personality.

i feel like a Blue Beetle film will be similar to Ant-Man, having Ted Kord (is it?) be the mentor to the new Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes?) like Henry Pym is to Scott Lang.

@MarkyMarkRises

yeah but the sequels will be coming from warner/dc if these first batch of movies are successful.

isn't justice league part 2 a sequel to part 1?

you make it sound like you don't want to see sequels? we got captain america the first avenger then came the winter soldier,how f*ckin awesome was that.

You realize that at some point, probably soon the comic book movie bubble is going to burst. When that happens, which I see happening about 2018 where will that leave future films and tv show. We are living in a stage of the cbm fad where everything is awesome and cool but at some point we're all gonna see another announcement for another character from the comics, roll our eyes and say 'Oh great, another one.'

@marvel72

I'm just saying while Marvel spent a few years telling stories with a handful of characters, DC will most likely set the universe for dozens of characters in 1 or 2 movies. Then those characters would get their own movies.

I love TWS, my third favorite superhero movie, but I was simply pointing out DC had a different strategy.

Not really a fan of some of DCs minor characters like Blue Beetle/Booster Gold but it'd be interesting to see them on later incarnations of the JL team.

@MarkMarkRises so you would rather have a bunch a characters bunch into 2 movies. so basicly your saying you would watch a amazing spider man 2 or spider man 3??

This may get too convoluted.

GeekyCheekyChic - 10/29/2014, 2:38 PM
how about getting the main players settled and then worry about the Blue Beetle or "something"

Manhunter, Hawkman, Hawkgirl all need to be in there before a [frick]ing Blue Beetle

djc1985 - Hopefully it won't pop in 2019, I want to see Justice League 2 and Avengers Infinity War Part 2 succeed dammit!

Jordanstine - Well it depends on how much superheroes are being shown in one movie. Is it too much for the audience to handle or just enough that they're interested to see more of them?

I really hope that WB/DC isnt just doing this to ride the train. I really dont want them putting out less than mediocre material just to cash in on the "Platinum Age of CBM's".

movies that could become huge given the proper treatment: the question, blue beetle and booster gold have also huge fanbases which havent realized their real sizes, inherently making their fandom awesome, zatanna is probably the most fan drawn superhero in the internet, supergirl could be incredible but it will diminish her cousin a little, and the freaking teen titans, if they do the titans i feel it could explode like nothing before it, i mean, teenage superheroes sounds lame but it isnt, its freaking awesome and all the better sidekicks are in DC. Also legion of doom please and miore use of the villains.

Lets see marvel villains: Monger (awesome), Whiplash (yeah like for 1:30 minutes, and twice as much total screentime), loki (okay hes developed more), Redskull (disney villain), loki in avengers (dumb kid but he has a dinstinctive personality and motivations i guess), Malekith (pussy, also devoid of real personality). Redford and winter soldier (okay this one was clearely better), Ronan (i guess he has personality being angry and all but given the previous villain list im gonna say its probably not that deep of a person). DC has to kill with their rouges, the villains have to make loki feel like a indecisive child and thanos like a mediocre universe conqueror. I think DC had a narrow window to explore their vision as they were relegated to seriousness and gritty thanks to the success of the batman films and how man of steel was portrayed, but they have in the same sense the chance of delivering a stronger philosophical message which will make the movies way more powerful if they truly kinda represent the idealistic way people think DC represents. (it really does not before this comic movies announcements i always defended the idea there was no war between two companies who have had THE SAME WRITERS AND ARTIST, but now in the big screen it seems there will be competition from both. So i have to defend DC not because i think is better, but because at the end of the day im not a comic book geek, i am a everythings cool geek, i love anime movies music fashion videogames books soap operas cartoons books toys internet reviews, so when i want to read story i want to read a story, devoided of crap and too much reference to 234 different issues of different series, i know dc is the same but when i look for graphic novels, DC is simply more solid , and i prefer graphic novels and elseworlds stories to 123455542233 retcons and references, i feel i get more from a single story
