Fox Reportedly Gets To Keep The Rights To ELEKTRA

Variety reports that Elektra will still be in the hands of Fox even though the Daredevil film rights are set to revert back to Marvel if a film isn't in production by October.

Fox, the company that brought you X-Men, Elektra, and 2003s Daredevil, has been working fast to get their once announced Daredevil reboot in production before the movie rights revert back to Marvel Studios, the original owners. However, reports have come in today stating that Fox has given up on the reboot and are simply letting Marvel have the rights back. In almost an aside, Variety reports that despite losing Daredevil, Fox still owns the rights to Elektra.

This is odd because Elektra was the love interest in the 2003 Daredevil film and Fox's 2005 Elektra film (poster seen above) was set in the exact same universe as the Daredevil film, taking place after it's events.

What does Marvel have in store for The Man Without Fear and is this a simple mix-up by Variety or is it indeed true? We'll just have wait and see.

Not to mention that this more than likely means that Fox may own the rights to The Hand, which sucks. They are basically Marvel's version of the League of Assassins.

To say that Elektra is "useless" to the DAREDEVIL mythos is just plain ignorance and has no idea about the pivotal role she's played in a lot of the Daredevil stories, and shows they don't know a damn thing about DD in the first place.

This can't be true. I read somewhere that Daredevil couldn't return to Marvel sooner than now because he had a cameo in Elektra even though it was a deleted scene. So if Daredevil goes so does Elektra and friends.

Elektra was a good character, at least in Daredevil. The film called Elektra is shit.

The only reason they're saying "I don't give a shit about Elektra" is because of that stupid spin-off film. The spin-off ruined Elektra's reputation. She was Marvel's most popular female character before that garbage movie came out. Also, yes she's essential to the Daredevil mythos, but as a stand alone character, Elektra is very interesting and underrated. She's one of Marvel's best characters.
Think about it. If Iron Man had been a bad movie, his reputation as a character would have sunk and he wouldn't nearly be as popular as he is today. Give Elektra a great script, cast, and director along with DD and she'll kick ass and win over haters. Similar to how Anne Hathaway redeemed Catwoman after that horrid solo film.

@ TheSpiderDude It's all good. I just see the potential in this character and if done right, she could be a fan favorite again.I mean look at Anne's Selina Kyle. She stole the movie for most people (myself included) and every one hated her before TDKR's release.

I assume this is because the Elektra film came out a year after the Daredevil film, so the rights would expire a year later. Which is quite odd, since Elektra is surely included in the Daredevil package. This would mean the Hand also is still with Fox.

I really doubt Fox would make another standalone Elektra film, especially without Daredevil. Whatever happens, we will have all the rights back by the end of next year. Marvel Studios won't be making a Daredevil film by then. I'm not too worried about this.

Did anyone ever wonder why Daredevil has been completely disregarded in animation? All the characters owned by Fox have appeared numerous times in animation over the years, but Daredevil hasn't been seen since a Spider-Man episode in 1996. 16 years! And before that, he had only 4 appearances across 3 shows.

Why would they not use him for that long? That's crazy for such a prominent Marvel character to be completely exed out of animation. Hopefully now that he'll be back at Marvel, he'll appear in one of their animated series or get a DVD film.

Seriously, what the hell is FOX going to do with the rights to Elektra? I think they've already done enough to the character.

The Elektra spin-off movie was garbage. I want to see the character back at Marvel Studios with Daredevil.

Bullshit! Elektra is big part of Daredevil´s story. They cant keep her.

It would be same if DC would fight for the rights of Batman with some other company and when they finally get Batman back they dont get Talia Al Ghul. I mean whats that about?O_o

Everyone is so happy that Daredevil is back with Marvel, but Marvel has already shown they don't have much interest in making a movie with the character and it will probably be much longer before any of us see a Daredevil movie. Would have been better off with Fox.

That's a shame. Electra, when written right, is an interesting and engaging character. I guess that now the rights are still at FOX then they can run the character into the ground further.

In a year Electra would go back to Disney anyway since Fox will not make another movie. Marvel won't be doing anything with DD in a year anyway.

Like Galactus and Silver surfer to the FF...the contract will have stated Daredevil and all supporting characters or something on them lines...

This is what will have emcompassed Elektra...as DD has reverted back to Marvl (effectively ending the original contract) Elektra will revert back too...

Variety can do one and stop spitting out their BS!!!

I'm more concerned about which characters go along with Elektra.. Like will Bullseye be with DD or Elekra? I personally really like Daredevil.. Movie sucked, but he really is an awesome, unique character. And Elektra should stay with him! ;-; But, hey, can't complain, at least we have DD.
Maybe the reason Fox still has Elektra's rights is they made that Elektra movie after Daredevil. Maybe if they sit on her like they did with DD, Marvel will get the rights too.

If DD goes back so does elektra. Example: X-Men universe: they own every single mutant and characters of that universe, so they can use any of them, and if reverts back to marvel, all of them does. Elektra is the same universe as daredevil, I don't see why FOX would keep her and not daredevil, or even why they would like to keep her. Unless they have a different contract for the character
