USA Today has a sneak peek at Universal's new Wizarding World of Harry Potter attraction - Diagon Alley. Ah, but we're only gonna focus on the image below. That's a sneak peek at two creatures that will appear in the Harry Potter spinoff film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. It is based on the J. K. Rowling's novel of the same, which she originally wrote for charity. The billionaire author will also be making her screenwriting debut with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. According to the Independent, Fantastic Beasts "will be filmed at the Warner Bros complex in Hertfordshire, where all the original Harry Potter films were made."
"Looking for a sneak peek at "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," the new Harry Potter spin-off movie? Head to the Magical Menagerie shop in Diagon Alley and peer up at the overhead shelves, as some of the strange looking animals represent the first time that the beasts have been visualized." - Arthur Levine

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” will be an original story and will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut. It is planned as the first picture in a new film series. Set in the wizarding world, the story will feature magical creatures and characters, some of which will be familiar to devoted Harry Potter fans. “Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for seventeen years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” said Rowling. “The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway.”

@NightWatcher

The way I see it, it'll probably add more to the mythology of the franchise. I honestly believe there could be Harry Pottee sequels focusing on the next generation of wizards or possibly new wizards. It's a widely known franchise from the books to the films. If they wanted to make a cartoon/cgi series they could if they wanted. I'd honestly like to see a Voldemort prequel to be as honest as I can! :,)

I am really excited for this I was always curious What America would be like in the Harry Potter Universe, and this takes place in New York in the 1920's.
It will also be awesome because Rowling is wring the screenplay herself, and because Alfonso Cuaron said he wanted to direct it.

I heard Disney is going to make more Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Toy Story movies.

I could've sworn I read this was cancelled, or they were discussing cancelling them. Aw well, guess it's happening and I just won't be watching it.

I know they want to make money for the film, but really, who will remember this film and will they make their money back....

No, they will not.

Maybe what you heard was that Cuaron was supposed to direct it but decided he loved the script but wanted to take a break from Cgi for now so he declined

I never understood the issue some have with a franchise being seen as a "cash cow" and then "milking" the fandom. When something is successful, should it stop because it has achieved its success?! I work to make money. I like making money.

They will make money on this film. Harry Potter fans will go. The Star Wars prequels made money and now they're making more movies and those will make butt loads of money (despite the prequels).

It likely won't achieve the same level of success as the Harry Potter films, but they were meant to make that kind of money, either. Fantastic Beasts will serve as a means for HP fans to revisit the Wizarding World and for those involved to make money.

News flash: it's a business. I welcome the chance to go back to the Wizarding World. Here's my money...entertain me, please.

I know me and the family will see this film. My wife is a huge harry potter fan, she has converted me into a fan. The films got better and darker as the kids became adults. I think any franchise that is truly looking to make multiple films should follow this blue print. Map the films out, don't get stuck cramming everything in 3 films. Can you imagine if fox did that with the x-men instead of winging sequel's.

I AM GROOT!!!

What's the point of this film you say? Well there are Harry Potter fans out there who do want to see the book be adapted on to film since it's one of the best literature out there.

This is not based on Harry Potter. It is basically a person who is researching on magical beasts set in the world of Wizardry.

Why click on the article if you have no interest in this.

I have loved harry potter ever since I was a kid. I enjoy the world and wouldn't mind seeing an expansion to it. I'm still hoping for a founding fathers prequel book though.
