THANOS "Apparently Confirmed" Again For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, By Jim Starlin

Lots of confusion surrounding whether or not Thanos will be in Guardians of the Galaxy. Creator Jim Starlin "apparently confirmed", once again, the Mad Titan's appearance in the cosmic movie. Check out what he had to say after the jump...

Jim Starlin, creator of Thanos, took part in a panel at the Nashville Comics and Horror Festival recently and not only confirmed (again) that the Mad Titan does indeed show up in Guardians of the Galaxy but he also talked about his liking of the casting choices for Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista).

“You know the gal who plays Gamora, I kind of like, I’ve seen her in a couple of things, I can’t think of her name off the top of my head. The wrestler they got for Drax looks pretty cool. Apparently Thanos does make some kind of appearance in there, which makes sense because Gamora is sort of his foster daughter.”

Starlin went on to also talk about how Guardians might have been a "desperation" move by Marvel Studios to have another franchise.

“I think the Guardians was sort of a desperation move to get another franchise. I mean they’re doing an Ant-Man movie. Why would you do an Ant-Man movie? There’s never been an Ant-Man book that lasted more than six issues. But it may be a good movie, and apparently all the things I’ve heard, the visuals on it are quite spectacular. But right off the top of your head you wouldn’t think Ant-Man would be the one.”

Speaking of Ant-Man's lack of solo comic books, Starlin spoke about the Guardians' struggles as a comic.

“...Guardians Of The Galaxy was one of the worst selling books for the longest time. I mean how many times did they bring that thing back and it disappear. I mean, well, you can say the same thing about the X-Men. They’ve come and gone several times.”

The most important thing to take from all of this is that Thanos is "apparently" going to appear in Guardians of the Galaxy. Whether it's a full-blown appearance or a smaller cameo-like apearance remains to be seen. However, in the past, Starlin has been on record saying that he knows nothing about the Guardians movie so we might have to take his above comments with a grain of salt too.

Guardians of the Galaxy hits theaters on August 1, 2014.

Well...one must decide to listen to Starlin, or not. The last time there was an interview with him, all the comments were putting him on blast and saying he doesn't know anything about the movies. Now he does? Eh. I'll be more excited when I see the trailer.

Star-Lord's GotG have been great books... I didn't read any of the original team's stuff.

Im glad someone else doesn't have much faith in an Ant-Man solo movie... I don't want it to appear like some sort of comedy. Might make ppl think of "Honey I Shrunk the Kids"

he sounds like a dick there but when i spoke to him last year he was really nice....

and at the time he did say Thanos would appear in both guardians and Avengers 2...funny how he keeps going back and forth.

As for the guy saying he would receive no royalty...that was already worked out by the time I spoke to him at last year's montreal comic con so i dont see that being the case....perhaps he's getting tired of being asked about the movie.

Is he a distant cousin of Rob Liefeld? Comes off as kind of pretentious and a little conceded.

I also hope that Nova and Adam Warlock will atleast be mentioned, if not showed.
I would like to see Kevin Grevioux potraiting as Thanos. I think he would be perfect for the role.

Gotg was probably included in MCU because Marvel wanted to go cosmic and they didn't have the Fantastic Four. Howeve still looking forward to the movie.

I haven't read a solo Ant-Man comic before, but recruiting a comedy director seems like the right move.

Yes, I hope that they don't go overboard with the humour, but given the character's name, that is probably the best way to sell Ant-Man to the general audience.

i def agree why the hell would u do an Ant Man movie

for those asking why you would do an Ant-Man movie...

why would you do a Blade movie?

Just because a character hasn't been able to put on a great run in the comics doesn't mean the character won't translate to movies really well.

I never liked the blade character in the comics but yet i loved the first 2 blade movies (3rd was ok nothing special)
