Ben Affleck To Possibly Co-Star In And Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE

With news that Joss Whedon has just inked a new deal to stay with Marvel through 2015 and direct The Avengers 2, Warner Brothers responds by going after Ben Affleck to co-star and helm Justice League.

After yesterday's announcement that Disney/Marvel locked in Joss Whedon for another Avengers picture and a TV show, it should come as no surprise that Warner Brothers would want to respond by dropping their own bombshell. According to Variety WB is looking to Ben Affleck to helm their superhero team up movie Justice League. The film is said to bring together such DC players as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern. Affleck is not a shoe in for the job at this point. One of the sticking points to him directing the film is that he wants to be apart of the cast. He is expected to meet with Warner Brothers executives in the coming days to try and hammer out all the details.

Earlier I had reported that Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel would be working towards a shared universe to set up a Justice League movie. There have also been rumors out there that Batman will be rebooted during that upcoming Justice League project, with his next solo film coming in 2016. However, according to my source Warner Brothers is not quite sure how they will handle the Batman reboot, as well as what they are going to do with Green Lantern. As mentioned before, the roster that Warner Brothers is looking to use in the film includes Batman, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern. Two notable names missing from that list are Aquaman and Martian Manhunter. For the latest on Justice League make sure you check back here at CBM daily.

After seeing The Town, I've become much more confident in his directing abilities. I've pretty much always enjoyed his acting though.

and seriously people were going to bring up the whole this directors never directed action before or an action movie card, neither had nolan or whedon yet they've given two of the best CBM's in movie history. Him directing I don't have a problem with its him trying to grab a role. I mean not a bad actor but I can't envision him playing any of the JL members,

He seems to act well in the movie he usually directs. I can see him as Maxwell Lord, maybe even Hal Jordon he has the douchebag look. But who knows we'll see how this goes

He's a talented director, but is ready for the responsibility. How would he play? Wouldnt be a bad Bruce.

If they don't put comics guys in charge of this movie then they still have learned nothing . We will probably see Batman and Superman in a fist fight to a draw lol .

I have reasonable faith in his skills, but this seems like an awfully big undertaking for such a relatively inexperienced director.

As much as I want an JL film, WB needs to take their time to plan out DC films future. As of right now, this seems desperate on their part as an answer to MS. If they rush this, not only will it kill possible films (I'm looking at you GL), but it will possibly hurt the CBM genre as a whole. Don't rush it WB!

People seem to question the fact that he hasn't directed a movie of such scale before, but they also seem to forget about Christopher Nolan, Jon Favreau, and most notably for the fact that he did ONE movie before moving on to a big-budget blockbuster, Marc Webb. All of these directors had no experience in big-budget action pictures yet still did wonderful jobs with what they were given. I haven't seen The Town, but if Affleck is chosen, I might just watch it to see how he did.

I actually haven't seen anything Affleck has done, but I have heard of him. IDK I guess we'll see what he can bring to the table. Not sure how they're going to bring all the other characters in without solo movies though. And what about GL? I hope they reboot him, but IDK.

And hey, if the guy wants to play Batman, go for it. He's got the chops and chin.

Ben Affleck

But let's not Dismiss Aquaman, he can look the part, easily.

Ben Affleck

Then again... If he gets hired to do this, everyone is gonna smirk at the thought of this guy doing a JLA movie:
