Who Will Ultimately Seize The Iron Throne? HBO's GAME OF THRONES Launches Its Own Election Campaign

Forget Clinton Vs. Trump, the real political struggle is happening in Westeros. To coincide with the digital release of Game of Thrones season 6, HBO is encouraging fans to cast their ballots.

All of the players are moving into position, and the final 2 season's of Game of Thrones will finally reveal which character will sit on the Iron Throne and rule over the 7 kingdoms.

With season 6 of the epic fantasy series hitting digital platforms (including iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon), HBO has launched a campaign for the “GOT Party.” Fans are encouraged to vote on the campaign website, and choose between Daenerys Targaryen (with Tyrion Lannister), Jon Snow (with Lyanna Mormont), Cersei Lannister (with Qyburn), and most intriguingly, Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish with his running mate, Sansa Stark.

Confirmation of a split in the Stark camp next season? Let's hope not.

How about Gendry Baratheon?

@Batmaniac - Why not... it would be funny if Gendry is king, Jon is Lord of Winterfell.... the baratheon/stark relationship kept the kingdom in peace for many years

Targaryen most likely. I would love it if it were Varus the advisor or someone out of left field. I just dont want the predictable ending.

Better vote for the person you don't want so D&D and GRRM don't kill off the person we want. Lol.

But seriously. I don't think it will be Jon. They're going to end it like most of their twists and there WILL be a twist. Jon will probably die before he reaches that point in majestic fashion and to be honest he will never accept the throne because he isn't hungry for power. Dany, Littlefinger, Sansa, Cersei all these characters WANT POWER. They want that throne. But Jon gives no [frick]s. All he cares about, like his uncle, family line Stark, is honor and doing the right thing thinking about others never himself. The rest have too much ego, selfish reasons.

Sansa.

It would be the only surprise possible, imo. The rest seem a bit obvious and predictable

#1, the person to ultimately sit on the thronse is not even listed on the website.

#2, what is obvious is that eventually Jon Snow, Tyrion, and Daenerys (all Targaryens) will come together as the 3 dragon riders and will wipe out the white walkers.

#3, Jon will likely die in that battle in some act of sacrifice. We already know he doesn't think he should be alive in the 1st place so self sacrifice is his natural destiny.

#4, Tyrion does not want the Iron Throne. Ultimately he wants someone on the throne who is righteous. And I'm willing to bet he finds a good woman before all is said and done and lives happily aver after.

#5, Danny's entire existence to this point has been driven by ambition, but she also is fair minded. Ultimately she will come to see that ambition is why drives the corruption she seeks to end and will realize it can't be her to take the throne, and she will step aside for the one person who has no interest in the throne.

#6, Littlefinger? Wont happen. Ultimately he'll be betrayed by the one closest to him. MAybe Sansa, maybe not. Or maybe Varys? They are the foils of one another so it would make sense.

#7, So who will sit on the Iron Throne? Pretty clear to me at this point. When the smoke clears the least likely of all candidates will arise from the ashed to sit on the throne. And that person is Brienne of Tarth. A reddit user mapped out beautifully here. https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthrones/comments/4lurb8/everything_the_iron_throne_by_right_belongs_to/

I think none of them, or a comparative dark horse. Hell, Davos would do a good job I think.

I don't know about everyone else but the last thing I want is Jon embracing his Targaryen heritage.

1.) Danerys is a good conqueror, but not a good ruler. She has not earned the right to sit the Iron Throne. Even with Tyrion, I wouldn't want her as ruler of the Iron Throne.

2.) Although I like Jon Snow, he'd be a terrible ruler and he has too much of the Stark honour to play the political game. I don't know why Lyanna Mormont is there besides her and not Davos or Sansa.

3.) Anyone who actually votes for Cersei or Littlefinger makes me laugh.

4.) No Euron Greyjoy?

All in all, its pretty obvious the show will end with the Iron Throne destroyed (the valyrian swords needed to kill the White Walkers) and the likes of Jon Snow and Danerys will die in the great 'Song of Ice and Fire.'

The show will then end with all the seven kingdoms independent and run as democracies, with the likes of Tyrion and Varys presiding over small councils in places like King's Landing and Myreen. I can see Bran and Arya surviving since they didn't play the Game of Thrones and would welcome this democracy.

@TheGoddamnPeel - Sam will get the throne... Yes, I'm serious. I'm going to put up a video on fb soon, explaining why. Danerys will be the final villain.

@TheGoddamnPeel - I agree, something along these lines seems likely.

GRRM is setting up Daenerys as a conquerer and he seems to depict the good guys as the ones who don't want to fight over the ones that do. I think Daenerys becomes the main villain in the end and she never realizes it.

But the Lord of Light knows no king but the one true king - Stannis Baratheon.

He may be dead on the show, but he lives on in the books and he's bringing his fury to the Boltons. He is the one true king and would be fantastic as a ruler and battle-commander against the White Walkers. Come on Stannis the Mannis!
