AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. EP On The New Agents, Victoria Hand, Gravitron And More

Will Gravitron and Victoria Hand return? Why is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. bringing in two new agents in episode 14? All that and more answered by executive producer Jeffrey Bell.

Recently, news broke that Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. would be bringing in two new agents for recurring roles beginning in episode 14. Executive Producer Jeffrey Bell spoke with ComicVine on that subject and a whole lot more. Said Bell on the two new agents, "We like when we bring in characters that knew our characters from a different time. It's fun to see how our characters are different than when they were. We can use these guest actors to see our characters in new ways and to create conflict and tension and sexy sexy within our group as it is.

We're just bringing some people in. I'm not saying we're looking for new cast or anything like that. There are some S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents in many episodes and these two we think will be a lot of fun." One two previous guest stars, Bell didn't outright confirm the return of Victoria Hand (Saffron Burrows) or Gravitron (Ian Hart) but he said seeing them again was very likely.

Bell went on to say that viewers will learn more about Skye's past and "Tahiti" in coming episodes and that the back-half of the show will chart a slightly new tonal course - namely that all the setups are going to payoff for those that stuck with the show. Bell also teased that the two-part midseason finale starting tonight at 8PM PST/EST on ABC has a very big cliffhanger. Viewers will not have to wait too long for answers however, as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns in January.

Let's hope these agents are unique and fully fleshed out ACTUAL agents with actual experience and much more likeable than the others... At least on the likeability of Coulson or May

Here's to hoping it will continue to keep getting better with each passing episode and an overlapping story becomes more apparent... and hopefully a cameo of a superhero somewhere down the line

I cant wait to see more of Victoria Hand and Graviton. This show just needs more heroes and villains from the comic books. It would be great if Taskmaster was brought in.

This show needs a leading character swap like the one that happened at the end of the first season of Stargate Atlantis, where they swapped out Rainbow Sun Francks and inserted Jason Momoa. during the first season even though they had Teyla as an outworld character in the team it got a real edge when they brought in Ronan Dex.
That change was quite well done and dramatic that the show got a great uplift. Need something like that in Agents of Shield as well. Maybe get a gifted person as a member of the team.

Your right about Ronan on Stargate Atlantis, with him the show got better! They need to apply the same idea here with a new character who has a strong presence and authority!Let's wait to see what they're going to do!

I was really hoping this show would be more CSI and less Austin Powers. I honestly would never watch it if it didn't have the Marvel name attached to it. Would anyone? Seriously, am I the only one who thought we'd get superhero cameos and appearances in this? However, we are getting the Hanna-Barbera version of the Marvel Universe. I'm half way expecting the following image to show up at some point.

I had high hopes for this, and I'm sticking with it, just because it's what it is, but boy they blew it big time with this show. A lot of people have given up on the show and won't be back. I hope they can turn things around for those of us who are left, but now I'm concerned it might not get a second series. And, to be honest, I wouldn't really miss it based on the quality so far. Which is a massive shame. I hate to say it, but Arrow is more enjoyable by far, even with its problems.

Problems needing solving:
1. Too episodic - where's the overarcing story?

2. "This is the story of ordinary people dealing with extraordinary circumstances" - These people aren't iike anyone I've ever met. They don't feel 'real' at all, let alone ordinary. Nor are they exceptional for that matter. They're cardboard cut-outs, stereotypes and cyphers.

3. Skye must die - Why is she there? She's not 'us' - she lives in a van, but has perfect hair and skin and doesn't stink. She's supposed to be uber-smart yet she doesn't seem to understand the concept of what an intelligence agency does. She's a total liability and friction causer, yet is constantly given a pass by Coulson and the rest for no apparent reason. She adds nothing but an extra annoyance factor the show really could do without. She's pretty I guess, but that's just not a good enough reason to keep her around. Kill her. Kill her dead.

4. Being tied to the MCU seemed like a great idea, but instead of making the world richer, it seems to have tied their hands, restricting the show more than it enriches it. Marvel need to allow them more free reign to play in the universe and/or the team need to be sucked into another dimension where the restrictions can be ignored.

5. The tone is all wrong. Tonally they need to stop trying to be all things to all people. This isn't the movies (although trying to please all the people all the time is a dangerous path to walk at the best of times).

6. (snip) I realise I could be doing this for some time, so decided to stop there for now. It's depressing.

One cw isn't a cable channel, it's broadcast. Two is a week defense anyway, because actual cable shows like twd and madmen ratings shits on both aos and arrow. If you have a good show the station doesn't matter people will watch.

Show is getting better people. This one looks really good. And yes people like it, its the 4th most watched scripted TV show right now. I don't get how general audience that I talk to love this show but comic fans don't.

CW is not a cable channel but it is still be considered a UHF Channel. Also the CW Channel has a stigma about it people just don't know about Arrow or even know that it is unlike the other CW shows especially this season. And it does not have the advantage of other channels like FOX where they advertise on FX and other Fox channels. Heck ABC advertises on ABC Family and NBC does it on ScyFy. I don't know why they don't advertise Arrow on CBS because they should. Also with what Monkeyballs said he can't get CW with his rabbit ears which can be a problem with UHF channels cause either he can't get reception or they do not have a CW affiliate in his area.

Why is this a battle between arrow and AOS? Both shows are really different. For instance I think arrow is way better. However every friend of mine thinks AoS is better. It just depends on what you like.

I love AoS!

It's engaging, entertaining, and much to the shagrin of Arrow fans and DC/Nolan trolls, it's fun. Since when did having a fun TV show become a problem?

I love the fact that AoS doesn't take itself so seriously. It's light-hearted, and I can watch it with my 3 year old son without having to make him cover his ears or eyes to miss the profanity or nudity.

Don't get me wrong, I love profanity and nudity, but I'm happy to have a show on TV that my whole family can enjoy. The only two things I can get my son to watch on TV are AoS and hockey.(preferrably the Winnipeg Jets)

So, I really hope they don't change the tone of the show, and I hope they continue down the path they started on, as AoS is just, plain and simple, good TV. It's not going to compete with shows like Breaking Bad or Dexter in terms of scope and brilliance, but it's great as it is.

I do get all of that, but the excuse "it is on the cw" is still weak. I could see if this was the eighties where the majority of people still didn't have cable, but now we are dealing in a time where like 80% of households have cable or satellite(in America). While the advertising is an issue with the cw, because they don't really outside of their own station, it is still a non starter because of social media. Shows like twd and madmen got to where they are off of critical acclaim and word of mouth, not ads. My whole point being, while all that (ads and channel) does have some effect, if you have a great show ratings will come with that. I love arrow, I get a fanboy bonner every time they drop ras' s name, but I'm under no impression that is some kind of great piece of art. The same goes for shield, imo.

@fortycals Word of mouth helps but I am telling you as soon as CW comes out of your mouth people stop listening. I know people do when I try and tell people about Arrow. Arrow is not just about name dropping, it has the best fight scenes on TV and some of the best action. Also with it's plot, foreshadowing and Season Big Bads it keeps you interested. With AOS the only reason I keep watching is to see if it gets better and it is slowly but hope of that should not be a reason to keep watching. I have said in other AOS posts it needs a Season Big Bad and more foreshadowing to some build up that is exclusive to the show not involving any of the movies, but still comes from the Marvel comics universe. Many shows have these Arrow, Chuck, NCIS, The Mentalist, Supernatual, and Walking Dead just to name a few.

Oh no! 10 episodes in and there hasn't been any comic book characters! Well except Victoria Hand, Scorch, Gravitron, Agent Sitwell and Raina. I hate drawing comparisons to Arrow sense its its own thing, but sense you all love comparing AoS and Arrow that's more than Arrow had in the first 10 episodes, back when majority of this site was saying that it was a shit show.

@dougieisrollingthejays: Not sure if joking... The article's headline calls him "Gravitron," and twice in the article it says "Gravitron." And several Commenters call him "Gravitron." MightyZeus and I are the only ones on here who left out the 2nd R!
