RESULTS: Would You Like To See Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson As Luke Cage?

After he expressed interest in playing the Marvel character, I asked you guys whether you'd like to see the wrestler turned actor play Luke Cage on the big screen, and here's what you decided by a big majority...

I've been a fan of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for as long as I can remember. Anyone who has ever watched him in the WWE (formerly the WWF) will know just how great an athlete he is, and how entertaining his segments on the microphone always were, and still are. Like many wrestling fans, I was disappointed when he decided to leave and pursue acting, and while some films weren't great, there's no denying just how good he's been in all of them. Personally, I would love to see him in a superhero role sometime in the near future, and when the opportunity arose on Twitter a couple of days ago to ask him which one he'd be most interested in playing, he revealed that Luke Cage was his #1 choice. Well, I asked you guys whether you'd be on board with him playing the character in a big screen adaptation, and the answer was a resounding YES!

He is really right in Marvel's wheel house. A great action star who is charismatic and can pull off the subtle comedy they need in their movies.

What the [frick]? The Rock as luke cage is some ol bullshit. For starters Luke Cage is black the Rock is not. And not to mention he can barely act. But the Rock can totally be Black Adam.

No way. He's to recognizable of a face. It would end up the same as RR Hal Jordan : You don't see the character, you see the actor.

When they inevitably make a shitty Luke Cage movie... Sure give the Rock a shot

You know, I never really thought of The Rock in this role. It has always seemed to be a grittier character that should fit the bill for Luke Cage. But now that I know he has interest I'm on board. He just flew in under the radar on this one.

This is the people's choice! Maybe we could see a return of the people's elbow!

The Rock may be the one guy who wants to do this that has the star power so that it gets done. I love Terry Crew for the part but I just don't think he has enough star power for this movie to get made.

f***k no, he´s white, Luke Cage is black.

Besides, Fast Five was the worst movie i ever seen.

Tyrese Gibson is spot on, he´s a angry black man and he´s been in prison movies.

I love Rocky. He's got the chops. But he doesn't look like Luke Cage.

See the painting at the top of this article of Luke Cage? Dwayne doesn't look like that guy. And looking like that guy was the whole point of heroes like Luke Cage when they debuted back in the day.

Race is a tricky thing in these castings, but I think it is a real factor, and it has to be taken seriously because sometimes it is a salient aspect of the character. Luke Cage is an African American, and we need African American heroes on the big screen.

Incidentally, lifelong Thor fan, white dude, who thought the casting of Idris Elba as Heimdall was brilliant and loved him in the role.

Ummmm VictorHugo and Cable23...I don't know where you got the infomation, but The Rock is not white, he's actually mixed race...half black (his dad was pro wrestler Rocky Johnson) and half Samoan (his grandad was pro wrestler Peter Miavia)....and to that his natural charisma and acting ability...its a no brainer

If they made Robert Downey Jr. black in Tropic Thunder they can make The Rock "blacker" for Cage.

@Cable 23 and VictorHugo: Ugh, guys, the Rock is black! His dad is black and his mom is Samoan. That's two very brown races right there. I'm all for this. I think the Rock is electric on screen. He really looked the part in Fast Five too.

I think the Rock is one of the few guys that could pull off Luke Cage's attitude without seeming corny. He did it in pro-wrestling for years. But I'll be honest, I wish Terry Crews was 10 years younger. He'd be perfect.

Give the role to Terry Crews instead. And then cast The Rock as Black Adam, for [frick] sake how long is it gonna take for them to move ahead with the Shazam movie

Wow, I'm kind of surprised SO many find the ex-wrestler to be on par with say Robert Downey Jr. in the Marvel movie-verse. Interesting.....

Terry Crews CAN NOT (yet) carry an entire film on his back, much less a potential franchise. Sorry, stans.

He's got the look, from the neck down, and the chops but he just doesn't have the appeal just yet to carry a Luke Cage movie. If you make it a buddy hero flick, with say, Iron Fist (Jason Statham or Luke Goss), then maybe.

Even still, Dwayne is the better choice in the game right now. If you don't believe it, just watch "Faster".

I'll admit I didn't consider him as a choice until he expressed interest and I'd much rather see him as Black Adam. But if Marvel is calling, Rock should answer.

Next best choice, Michael Jai White, of course.
