DC and Marvel TV shows in development

On the Marvel front, Netflix recently announced plans for four Marvel superhero programs - Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist. Those four will culminate in a miniseries called The Defenders (see more info HERE). Whether these shows are connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe remains to be confirmed. Odds are that they will be, with the current conjecture leaning towards these shows taking place in the '70s. Disney executive Bob Iger also commented that another Marvel show in addition to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is also in development (see more info HERE) and there's a lot of scuttlebutt which says that series is an extenuation of the Agent Carter One-Shot starring Hayley Atwell. This makes sense as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was born from the Agent Coulson One-Shot.

On the DC front, Arrow has been more successful than most would have dared project and is The CW's most watched show. Spinning out of Arrow will be a Flash tv program starring Gusting Grant (see more info HERE). Also recently announced were development deals for a Gotham tv series at Fox which follows Commissioner Gordon before Batman (see more info HERE), a Constantine tv show at NBC (see more info HERE), and more CW/DC programs in the form of Hourman (see more info HERE) and iZombie (see more info HERE). There's a question of whether The CW shows will be connected to the cinematic universe that started in Man of Steel and is continuing in Batman vs Superman. Arrow executive producer Greg Berlanti recently stated that no such discussions have taken place, which some have taken to mean the shows are connected. But you could also interpret that statement as those discussions simply haven't taken place yet. "No discussions" are different from "having discussions and being implicitly told that Arrow will not be set in the Man of Steel universe".

Elsewhere, AMC have announced plans for a Walking Dead spinoff that will not be based on the comic book and will feature an entirely new setting and cast of characters (see more info HERE). It's been said that the show will be a prequel, following the early days of the zombie apocalypse when civilization was not yet completely eroded. Another comic book related show in development is the League of Extraordinary Gentleman at Fox (see more info HERE).

I have grown to love Daredevil over the past couple of years, so that is the one I'm most excited for. The runner-up would be The Flash.

Oh! Jeez-- I thought this was just a poll of the upcoming Marvel shows for a second... (In which case, it would have been Daredevil, no question.)

But when you factor in ALL of them, and you realize that the people behind Arrow (the best superhero T.V. show of the past decade, if not all time) are gonna be spearheading the Flash T.V. show, AND it's going to be supervised by Geoff Johns (one of the greatest writers the character has ever had)?

Well, jeez, what kind of a pointless question is that?

THE FLASH, all the way!

My list would be something like this:

1. THE FLASH
2. Daredevil
3. Constantine
4. The Defenders
5. Gotham (though I'm honestly not expecting much...)
6. Luke Cage
7. Hourman
8. Iron Fist
9. Jessica Jones
10. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

And the last couple are stuck in that wonderful, misty region of "I don't care even on a basic conceptual level".

For me I'd say:

Daredevil
Flash
Defenders
Luke Cage
Preacher(haven't read the comics but it sounds amazing)
Iron Fist(not too familiar with him but could be sick)

Gotham could be cool too, and Constantine sounds awesome.

While I know little of the comics, I really liked the movie and a think a show of it can easily be accomplished. So bring me Constantine!

Easily Flash and Daredevil.

1. Constantine/ I'm a big Hellblazer fan, he is my third favorite character after Batman and Superman. So if NBC can get him right then I'm in.

2. Preacher/ Simply one of the best comic book series ever.

3. Gotham/ If its anything like Gotham Central then count me in

4. The Flash/ I have to see how the costume looks and how the actor does first before I'm sold on this.

5. Hourman/ Hopefully this leads to other spinoff shows like Doctor Fate, Mister Terrific, The Atom etc. Which will eventually lead to the Justice Society.

No current conjecture predicts the Netflix shows will take place in the 70's. are you daft?

A couple people liked the idea of the Twilight guy making a DD film set in the 70's and as of yet, have not shut up about it.

I seriously can't believe you mentioned that like it holds any credibility whatsoever.

FOR SHAME!!!

Daredevil and the Defenders which no doubt Dr Strange will be a part of. I'm still dying to see who marvel casts as strange. And Luke Cage. The rest doesn't interest me.

Rokyn
Rokyn - 11/27/2013, 4:19 PM
I'm intrigued on how they will feature Flash's powers (Most likely like the Tomorrow People show) and how will they incorporate his costume. And Daredevil on TV is a great idea, hopefully it's very actiony and full of crime drama. If Constantine is connected to JL Dark, then I will be excited. Gotham I have no clue on what it's about and the others I don't care about.

Matt Murdock and Barry Allen are going to own comicbook TV if they are successful and well made. And I have heard rumors, that Geoff Johns is writing and shaping up the Flash pilot alongside fellow comicbook geek Andrew Kriesberg which is a great sign for hardcore Flash fans. And if either Bendis or Waid are involved with the Daredevil show, then it WILL be great hands down.

Bendis or Waid should work on the Daredevil show and hands down it will be great if they do. Those guys have written some fantastic material and Waid is one of my favorite writers of all time for his work on Daredevil and Superman Birthright.
