Awhile back, I posted an article saying that the current status quo of the Amazing Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be ending soon. Now we get the details. Read on.

Brand New Day will end with Origin of Species, as you know. All of the villains from the past couple years, including the Gauntlet foes, will have a role. Spider-Man is on the run and has something that's very important to the Osborn family and the entire world, according to Spidey assistant editor Tom Brennan. "You will see why Spider-Man is the greatest hero in the world." said Brennan.

The end of Brand New Day won't happen until November. Marvel released this news in conjunction with the revelation that Dan Slott would be the new sole writer of Spidey comics. Slott's Amazing Spider-Man will ship bi-weekly. Also, some classic villains will return. Slott mentioned that Mac Gargan will be returning to his Scorpion role. (That's the best news I've heard all day. Now the Venom Symbioite can find a real host).

Marvel also revealed that three artists would be working with Slott; Humberto Ramos, Marcos Martin and Stefano Caselli. The comic will increase to thirty pages. with Slott saying sometimes this will be a main story and sometimes it will be a standard 22 pages with an 8-page back-up (that would tie into the main storyline).

Slott teased that Spider-Man would finally get a job once again and live up to his potential as Peter Parker.

Marvel also announced a new Spider-Girl series, set to debut in November 2010, and a new Osborn mini-series.

IGN has a few promotional pieces from Caselli, Martin and Ramos. Could these be teasing upcoming storylines? Check them out below.

Perhaps one of the big changes will be that Spidey gets a new costume.

Stay tuned for more updates!

@otherside that was one of things that I liked about Brand New Day, personally I don't like MJ. I was hoping Spidey and Black Cat would eventually hook up for good. lol

SWEET!!!! I can't wait..they finally bringing things back into order. Quesada must be seeing the error of his ways and we will get the Spidey we Longed for. I like the new costumes.....the Fantastic 4 one looks really cool, the black and green looks really bad-ass. I wonder if they will replace him for good or just temporary...or maybe thats why Spidey in San Fransisco with the Mutant/Vampire problem..maybe its another one. Could be Van or Patrick

Excellent article Destroyer! Although I'll miss that third issue each month, the fact that Dan Slott is coming on as the regular writer is great news. It's been good having so many creators work on Spider-Man but the different tones they all bring can be a little jarring between arcs IMO. And what a great group of artists...Marcos Martin is one of my favourites! :)

FINALLY. I'm all for Marvel taking risks with their storylines, but 'Brand New Day' was just stupid... I don't know how they thought any good could have come from it.

And I love those pictures :) Great find, Destroyer :D

OMG the artwork should be improving on ASM instead of degrading. Those sample artwork pieces suck so bad it isn't even funny. I do like Marcos Martin, but only in small doses.

They need guys like Steve Epting, Alex Ross, Mike Deodato, Michael Lark, Marco Checchetto, Mike Mckone. I could name so many better artists than listed above.

This is The Amazing Spider-Man, not some lousy little manga or anime shit for the kiddies.

Don't even get me started on changing the costume again or somebody replacing Peter again as SM.

Wow, I didn't expect this to make the front page. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm hoping somehow the series will revert back to the original timeline. I still don't like the fact that Peter and Mary Jane are not married.

@destroyer...if it goes back then a whole mess of things would be changed during the events of Dark Reign, Siege, and the early stages of Heroic Age...UNLESS they are clever enough to keep it on track with the continuity
Destroyer14
Destroyer14 - 7/25/2010, 6:27 PM
@Aki87 Marvel is very clever. I'm sure they can think of a way.
StuckInPanels
StuckInPanels - 7/25/2010, 6:42 PM
@destroyer...good point, but it would have very very well done or else they got themselves backed into a corner. I mean the Heroic age is good so far, but if they somehow undid BND it would greatly affect everything in the main series...but hey lets wait and see what they got in store.

My biggest question is the Fantastic 4 costume...does he join the team...I know She-hulk was a temp member but Spidey? I know he has some history with the team and maybe the make him an honorary member...looks cool...hope we see it in Shattered Dimension

@Destroyer14 awesome find man!!! finally!!! its about time they ended the Brand New Day....having Spidey make a deal w/the devil??? Really?? Curse you Joe Quesada I'm glad its finally ending...does this mean the deal will be undone and the universe will revert back to the end of the 'Back in Black' story-arch??

And most importantly does this mean the return of Peter & Mary Jane PARKER?? God, I hope so!! To the MJ & Pete being reverted back to being married part that is...I wonder how they'll make that work w/ all of the crazy big stuff that's happened in BND...hmmmm....@Destroyer very good point haha

Wow the return of the Scorpion!!! Sweeeeet! Bout frickin time!! Woah....what is that wicked black suit?? A high tech version of his cloth symby suit?? And is Pete joining the FF???!!!!! THIS IS HUUUUGGE!!!!!! I'm soooo frickin excited!!!!!

Gotta agree with Eviltwin on this one!!!
The first pic of Spidey and the Scorpion doesn't look too bad but I'll reserve judgment until that story line comes out, but the Humberto Ramos art is just garbage! Didn't he do Spectacular earlier in the decade? His art would be better put to use on a kiddie version of the book, NOT Amazing Spider-Man! He can definately draw, but not suited for Amazing! They need TOP QUALITY artists on this book, like the kind Eviltwin mentioned above. How about Lenil Francis Yu, Andy Kubert, Frank Quietly(?), (maybe Morrison can have a crack at Spidey after his Batman run!) Michael Lark, Dale Eaglesham, Hell I'd like to see Ron Frenz come and do a few issues for old times sake!
The new Tron-ish costume looks kinda cool, but it's probably just for an ish or two, same as the FF version! If they were changing Spidey's outfit permanently don't you think they'd have mentioned it at Comic Con?
Glad to see Slott as full time writer tho. That so far is the only saving grace of this book when these changes start!

This looks amazing. I'm happy to hear that there getting my favorite hero back on track. He's been good in The Gauntlet and Grim hunt but I hated the One More Day storyline. I like that there changing his look up too. even though his classic look is the best IMO, but nothing wrong with trying out new looks. I love the Hobgoblin and Scopion pics too. Nice to see the Scorpion looking like a real badass for once. I always liked the character but hated the costume.

@ The Doctor
Thanks bro!!! (I still think you should have gone with "Goodtwin" though, hahaha.)

@UNfriendlySpidey
Don't be too quick to hate on Quesada. I read an interview with JMS who was writing Spidey prior to OMD/BND, and what he had written WOULD have erased years of Spidey continuity. What Joe Q. did was find a way to wrap up JMS's run without erasing history and continuity.
As wonky as it was, Quesada saved it.
UnfriendlySpidey
UnfriendlySpidey - 7/26/2010, 9:48 AM
@Eviltwin yeah, that may be...but from the very beginning JQ always said he never liked MJ & Peter being together and that's where BND came from...right?? That was my understanding...but if thats the case, wow was I wrong...either way neither of them should've changed Spidey's history...I'm glad its finally ending. Didn't know JMS had a more radical idea...thanks for letting me know!

@UnfriendlySpidey

You're right, that is a fact for sure, Joe Q. has never liked MJ & Peter being married. My understanding was that BND was a way to shake things up in Spidey and then take advantage of that transition to erase the marrige in order to tell better more fun stories. So, a combination of stuff I think. And, as far as I know a lot of the writers they had on ASM didn't like the marrige either.

Your right on that too, I agree, that they shouldn't have changed history. But, Joe Q. has stated over and over again that all the events ever is AMS HAVE taken place, except for the actual wedding. So no history has been erased or anything. JMS was gonna change all that. (That interview with him is on the net somewhere, I think I googled it. Interesting read.)

You're very welcome! I always think people should be informed, if anything to make a better opinion on something. 411 is always a good thing.

@TheDoctor
Hope you have a crappy night at work you bum! Hahahaha.

Eviltwin
Eviltwin - 7/26/2010, 7:32 PM
I still think that in order to evolve the character of Peter/Spidey, they should have followed through on May dying, and following that, have life play out. It would have made a more mature book and incredibly interesting one too.

He put Wilson Fisk in his place during Back In Black, which was an amazing scene. However, is it still in place with the events of BND? It would be a shame if it wasn't, but with May not dying, did those events happen or did Peter find a way to save her after all?

I'm hoping OMIT answers all those questions, because they promised that all will be answered. Let's hope.
UnfriendlySpidey
UnfriendlySpidey - 7/27/2010, 9:54 AM
@Eviltwin exactly. The Kingpin-Pete fight was spectacular(no pun intended haha) but after BND, the 'Back in Black' storyline has been erased from history and most of the 'Civil War' storyline as well.

Think about it; if Pete & MJ's marriage/life together was erased, there's ALOT of the stories that were told that no longer exist when BND was instituted...which means Pete never moved into the Avengers stronghold, which means 'The Other' never happened either...I'm very interested to see where this is going to go now..like you said, let's hope all will be explained!
Eviltwin
Eviltwin - 7/27/2010, 6:45 PM
@ Unfriendly Spidey

Oh no dude, Marvel has said all along that B.I.B. and Civil War did happen as well as all Spidey history. They have also hinted (in the letter columns) that we yet may see The Other abilities again.

Pete probably did move into Avengers stronghold, but MJ wasn't with him.

Think about it: If CW didn't happen, then why is Spidey an unregistered hero, and Jackpot (let's say) is a registered one? And, why does Peter keep saying in the books "Everything we did to protect my identity is still in place." (Paraphrasing)

I really am looking forward to all the answers in OMIT.

UnfriendlySpidey
UnfriendlySpidey - 7/27/2010, 10:21 PM
@Evil oh no no I meant ELEMENTS of the Civil War were erased not the entire CW storyline lol I know that but anyways yeah that will be amazing to see the return of his 'Other' abilities!!! we'll have to wait and see what happens/how its explained. I'm excited too
