Awhile back, I posted an article saying that the current status quo of the Amazing Spider-Man: Brand New Day would be ending soon. Now we get the details. Read on.
Brand New Day will end with Origin of Species, as you know. All of the villains from the past couple years, including the Gauntlet foes, will have a role. Spider-Man is on the run and has something that's very important to the Osborn family and the entire world, according to Spidey assistant editor Tom Brennan. "You will see why Spider-Man is the greatest hero in the world." said Brennan.
The end of Brand New Day won't happen until November. Marvel released this news in conjunction with the revelation that Dan Slott would be the new sole writer of Spidey comics. Slott's Amazing Spider-Man will ship bi-weekly. Also, some classic villains will return. Slott mentioned that Mac Gargan will be returning to his Scorpion role. (That's the best news I've heard all day. Now the Venom Symbioite can find a real host).
Marvel also revealed that three artists would be working with Slott; Humberto Ramos, Marcos Martin and Stefano Caselli. The comic will increase to thirty pages. with Slott saying sometimes this will be a main story and sometimes it will be a standard 22 pages with an 8-page back-up (that would tie into the main storyline).
Slott teased that Spider-Man would finally get a job once again and live up to his potential as Peter Parker.
Marvel also announced a new Spider-Girl series, set to debut in November 2010, and a new Osborn mini-series.
IGN has a few promotional pieces from Caselli, Martin and Ramos. Could these be teasing upcoming storylines? Check them out below.
Perhaps one of the big changes will be that Spidey gets a new costume.
Stay tuned for more updates!
