Feature Opinion

Joel Edgerton (Warrior), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas), Lee Pace (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) and Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) have all signed test deals for the lead role of 'Peter Quill' in Guardians of the Galaxy, while there is also said to be interest in Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy), James Marsden (X-Men) and Sullivan Stapleton (Animal Kingdom). This is an impressive list of actors and they would all bring something very different and unique to the lead role in James Gunn's foray into Marvel Studios' cosmic universe. So, when we asked you guys which of them you would most like to see bring 'Star-Lord' to the big screen in 2014, you came out in your thousands to vote! As you can see, there was a very clear favourite, so here's hoping that Marvel listen to fans and cast the Zero Dark Thirty star in Guardians of the Galaxy!

This film could be epically bad.

Knowing nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy, all I can say is that Joel certainly makes for a very likable lead actor, based on his performance in Warrior.

If this isn't done right it can be an epic fail. Unless you are a true fan of the comic world most don't even know about GOTG. So this film really has to win people over.

@QuanZen - that's trivial and goes without saying. What will really help this film is some tie in to the other franchises.

Whomever plays the role needs to be able to bring this to life:

Chris Pine is my pick, but Joel Edgerton might be a good pick as well, since I've heard great things about Warrior.

Could care less for this film :/ would have rather had Black Panther or Dr. strange.... But then again, those r both to "unrealistic" for audiences, lets stick with Norse gods, a man on super steroids from WWII, Galctic Guardians, and alien races from different parts of the galaxy. Plus we will throw in a man who can shrink to a micr-man! Way more realistic and relata le! Come on Marvel, just bring the fans what the really want!!!!

Olyphant is my number 1 dream pick, but i understand he might be too old for the part, but another idea I have had for a really great actor that is majorly underrated...Ben Foster

Edgerton for sure out of these guys, then I'd probably go with Marsden his looks and acting style is similar to Chris Evans, and he pulled off the leader role brilliantly
Hellsing
Hellsing - 12/2/2012, 9:50 AM
I honestly don't have a problem with any of the choices besides Hedlund, i'm down with any of the choices. But edgerton and pace would be my favourites, Pace just edges out edgerton for me simplt due to my love of the fall and pushing daisies.

ToTheManInTheColdSweat
ToTheManInTheColdSweat - 12/2/2012, 10:38 AM
Geezus, why do fanboys always cast the same 10 flavor of the year actors.

Might as well throw in Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Henry Cavill [frick] even Sam Worthington while we are at it. Smh, you would think there are only 10 actors in the entire hollywood industry.
