ARKHAM CITY Developers Rocksteady To Work On A JUSTICE LEAGUE Video Game

With a Justice League movie set to hit the big screen in 2015, Warner Bros. are beginning their campaign to raise awareness of the team. And what better way of doing it than a game from Rocksteady which will pit Batman and the League against the Joker?

Variety reports that Warner Bros. are moving ahead with plans to increase audience awareness of the Justice League before their planned big screen debut in 2015. This will include an new title from Rocksteady (the developers of best-selling and critically acclaimed titles Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City), who are said to be hard at work on a video game which is described by the site as a, "New, highly stylized title is being developed as a prequel that revolves around Batman's first meeting with the Joker. It's based on the Silver Age of DC's comicbooks from the 1950s when the Caped Crusader teamed with other heroes like Superman and founded the Justice League of America." Really, the Joker again? I mean I know he's one of the greatest villains ever created in any medium, but come on, this is getting ridiculous.

What the heck is Joker has to do with JL?

JL's villain - Darkseid, Brainiac, Despero, Amazo, and yes even as pathetic as it looks, Starro.

Batman's street level villain - Joker.

@ just1superguy

Dude, the article says it will be based around the "comics from the 50's when he first met the Justice League. I'm sure it will still be a modern take and not look like its taking place in the 50's.

Marvel games were pretty good before they messed up with Activision.

Spider-Man 2, Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel Ultimate Alliance (not the 2nd one - f* Civil War story) were the best games before Arkham Asylum.

Think about Leo, Raph, Don and Mikey kicking ass in Arkham City style.

I'd rather see rocksteady do a Batman Beyond or Spider-Man game for marvel.

This...can only be a good thing...providing it is sandbox style...

Linear based superhero games are shite!!!

Do it sandbox and you will have a winner!!!

I cant wait. I would love one set in modern day but I think it will be cool set in the 50's. It will probably be a breath of fresh air actually.

I need it. Now.
DCUO, Lego Batman 2, Injustice and now this. The JLA are getting a lot of attention recently through video games, but this could be the best of the lot. I'm so excited about this :D

Interesting. The Justice League Heroes was the best Justice League game so far. The recent, Injustice: gods among us was so boring. WTF was that? Justice League with Mortal Kombat's gameplay. Meh!

Ill admit this is a little unexpected, but bit your kwitchen guys! These r the people who made arkham asylum/city...its gonna be great either way. And I'm thinking this is NOT gonna have anyy former voice actors returning.. mark hamill said he wasn't doing the joker anymore, so one would assume the rest of the cast might be changed up too (as to avoid continuity confusion)

Excited to hear who they would pick..

And sandbox play FTW. Hope they have multiple 'home' worlds in the game for each character. They already made gotham lol

"It's based on the Silver Age of DC's comicbooks from the 1950s"

This is just a nice way of saying it's not New 52 - the characters will basically be the versions everyone remembers (yay!). It won't actually take place in the 50s, especially if it's part of the AA contiuity.

@nubase those games he mentioned were all great, add in the xmen and spiderman arcade games,a lot of classics. They didn't have awards when these games came out,if your not just being a marvel hater I suggest playing them! Dc had some good ones besides the arkham games. Mk vs dc was great, the death and return of superman is one of my favs,Lego bats, batman returns, and even the batman forever arcade game was a good time.

I'll believe it when I see it.... I know this may sound crazy, but I think Wonder Woman would have the potential to be a huge hit as a video game. Hot chick, GOW style game play (with a tad less brutality), Lasso of truth, gauntlets that deflect bullets, and a fresh character that is well-known but not used in this medium. I'd like to see it happen. My two cents...

I love Rocksteady, but I'm not excited at all for a Justice League movie. Marvel had the advantage with Avengers because of most of them being from real-life cities and were pretty relatable.

How is DC going to blend every one of those characters' universes into one movie will be a miracle.

Would everyone be happier if they said.. "Based on the 1950's..BUT.. starting in the 1960s?" heh

anyways... Just make the friggin movie great.. not just good. and I don't care much about the game... but IF it equals the other Arkham ones.. it'll be okay in my book.

but.. again.. just make the movie Great!!!

I hope I don't lose any credibility by admitting to having played the Lego Batman 2 game, but one of the main issues I had with it regarded the fact that the game remained focussed on Batman.

Yes, the title suggests that much, but I had thought that the 'DC Superheroes' part would be expanded upon a little more than it was. Most of the Justice League (particularly Martian Manhunter) are relegated mostly to free play, and characters such as Green Lantern and Wonderwoman felt like they were simple copies of the Superman model, with little to make them seem very unique.

If Rocksteady are going forward with a JL game, I really hope that they won't do the same thing!

@dRem-- Im pretty sure thats why theyre so far behind Marvel..Even they cant really figure it out lol. Thats why they tried to make green lantern a smartass pretty boy ala tony stark/RDJ... why batman is getting rebooted before the next one even releases... why WB is retelling a 'safe story'/soft remake-imagining with a harder edge... and why they scrapped a WW TV show after seeing a pilot...

I just dont get why a Flash movie wasnt made before GL?? ryan reynolds was really perfect for that role... plus, super speed would be ballz in IMAX w the right director!!!
