Christopher Nolan NOT Producing JUSTICE LEAGUE; More On MAN OF STEEL's DCU Connections

More quotes on the future of DC film adaptations are here, revealing that an announcement will be made "in the next several weeks" and that Man Of Steel will indeed influence other movies. Additionally, it has been confirmed that Christopher Nolan has no involvement with Justice League.

Earlier today, it was confirmed by Warner Bros. President Jeff Robinov that Man Of Steel will set the tone for future DC Comics adaptations and allows other superheroes to exist in its world. Now, via Entertainment Weekly, more quotes from its Superman-centric issue have gone online. Robinov says that the reboot won't be stand-alone like The Dark Knight Trilogy, and that "anyone" can live in its world. "I think you’ll see that, going forward, anything can live in this world. [Nolan’s] Batman was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world they lived in was very isolated without any knowledge of any other superheroes. What Zack and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world." He also promises that an announcement will be made soon. "We’ll announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies we’re going to be making." This goes along with what we heard about Justice League not being decided until Man Of Steel opens on June 14th; if it's a hit, then the superhero ensemble will inevitably move forward.

While Man Of Steel likely won't feature any DC superhero cameos, we can expect some sort of easter egg(s). EW compares it to the Joker's card being featured in 2005's Batman Begins. Screenwriter David S. Goyer admits, however, that Man Of Steel does have the same approach as The Dark Knight Trilogy does in terms of not being "sequel bait". "One of the things we dealt with on the Batman films is, Chris dislikes it when you plan something, when you say, ‘I’m going to follow this up in the next film. He’s always said put everything you have into this film and then worry about the next film later. That gives the film it’s own integrity as opposed to being part of an overall plan. So of course the comic book fans, it’s hard not to think about [crossovers] but I, having done three Batman films and worked in that way, it’s definitely the approach we took with Man of Steel."

Robinov is then asked if The Dark Knight Trilogy will be stand-alone as previously stated, and he says, "They do. Or they did. Where we go in the future is a whole other conversation." There was a rumor last month going around that Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale return for Justice League, which was later seemingly debunked. Robinov confirms that it's not true, and reps tell EW that Nolan is currently busy with Interstellar, making his Justice League involvement all the more unlikely.

These comments on The Dark Knight Trilogy are certainly intriguing, as Robinov doesn't seem to entirely close the door on expanding it into a wider DC Universe (using past tense to describe it). However, perhaps they're also referring to future Batman films, as a reboot is more likely. What do you think of this news?

There was still any doubt about Nolan and Bale not being involved?
Seriously, how can anyone take El Mayimbe seriously after all these blunders lately.

Cheers, just wanted to avoid confusion, saw two different articles linking those quotes to WB President Robinov and Man of Steel Producer Charles Roven. Looks like Robinov is the correct one.

In fairness, Mayimbe practically debunked his own scoop. I'm sure Nolan was in talks at some point, but the internet reports were likely jumping the gun.

This is getting really exhausting.

Get your shit together DC. Man of Steel will do great. Hire the right people to make an awesome Green lantern sequel, that will make us forget how mediocre the first one was, and on the JL film already!

it's HILARIOUS how too many people (mostly nolanites) said that the future of CBM will be "copying" nolan's style after of his successful trilogy of bats, and so far not a single studio is "following" this formula BUT instead, they're FOLLOWING the formula created and used successfully by MARVEL and the idea of a Shared Universe !

Fox - Warner - Sony

glad they took noticed !!!

People better embrace it then, two comic film worlds would be really awesome.
