FLASHPOINT: Jeffrey Dean Morgan And Lauren Cohan Tease Their Roles As Thomas & Martha Wayne

Since we now know The Flash's first solo film will be titled Flashpoint, it only leaves us with one question: Will we see Thomas Wayne's Batman? Well, it seems like Jeffrey Dean Morgan is interested...

It came as quite the surprise when Warner Bros. revealed that their upcoming Flash film starring Ezra Miller would now be a live-action adaptation of Geoff Johns' critically-acclaimed DC Comics storyline, Flashpoint. While we don't know much about the film, fans have already started speculating on whether or not we would see the return of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne and judging by these new posts, it seems like we just might.

Shortly after the Flashpoint announcement, JDM took to his Twitter and Instagram accounts to display his excitement for the film, teasing fans with a photo of him and Lauren Cohan (Martha Wayne) together from this year's The Walking Dead Comic-Con panel.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Flashpoint storyline, it involves Barry Allen traveling back in time, changing a pivotal moment in his past, which eventually alters the entire DC Universe. By doing so, he altered Bruce Wayne's (Ben Affleck) life as well, leading to his death that fateful night in Crime Alley. It is then Thomas Wayne who takes on the mantle of a far more brutal, gun-toting Batman, with Martha Wayne becoming the Joker.

Nhaa he's just messing with us.

I don't think this is going to be the same Flashpoint as seen in the comics, although it will have basically similar consequences.
This all goes back to the Knightmare scene in BvS, the only alternate reality we've seen so far.

@Doomsday8888 - They hired Jeffrey Dean Morgan for a reason. They're going to use him. We'll have two great Batmans!

Plus, this isn't that other one that calls itself "The Flash", so we're getting a full Flashpoint movie, not 20 minutes of shitty writing on a crap show.

@JohnCena -
We'll see, but i doubt it.

@JohnCena - When they hired Jeffrey Dean Morgan the Flashpoint movie wasn't happening.

@Doomsday8888 - We have all the major players of Flashpoint so yeah i think its gonna be legit Flashpoint.

@JohnCena - interesting. "20 minutes of shitty" brings John Cena's acting to mind.
AC1
AC1 - 7/23/2017, 2:13 PM
@Doomsday8888 - Actually I could see that being the case. Kal-El isn't found by the Kents, discovers his heritage and suit, possibly even sides with Zod before overthrowing him leading to the bleak Knightmare future. Batman leads a rebellion against Superman's regime, and we basically get a Flashpoint/Injustice hybrid.

I do think it's too early for Flashpoint, especially as this is the very first Flash movie, but if it's at least rooted in something we've already seen in the DCEU then it could work. I just hope they don't try to use it to retcon everything and Star Trek/X-Men their way into an alternate timeline.

@Jcool - I agree @JohnCena. And Jcool I think Flashpoint was in the pipeline at that time. Thomas Wayne only had a one word line and maybe 4 minutes of screen time, he could've been played by anybody but they went for someone who has a strikingly resemblance to the grizzled Thomas Wayne of Flashpoint lore.

@AC1 - @AC1 -I agree. Just fix small things, like Suicide Squad or the Doomsday origin or something. Contrary to troll belief, the DC Films Universe does not need a complete reboot.

@Jcool - I would asume they always thought of the possibility. And if not, its fortuitous casting that both Cohen and JDM are great actors

On a more serious note I hope this happens.

Because I want to see Flashpoint's version of Batman and Joker in real life, instead of just cartoon and comic format.

Then seeing the ramifications and what it means for the rest of the DCEU will be great.

I hope Flashpoint will age Lex Luthor to be more like he is in the comics and make way for the crazy, flamboyant version of Joker too.

@BlackIceJoe - Kill the junior version and just have Lex Sr. as the only.
BlackIceJoe
BlackIceJoe - 7/24/2017, 9:18 AM
@MNLawyer - That works with me.

Who'd you want as Lex Sr.?

Back before we knew who'd play Lex I was thinking John Cusack would be an interesting choice, but now I feel like Steve Buscemi works more for Jesse's dad.

MNLawyer - 7/24/2017, 9:44 AM
@BlackIceJoe - Not sure, but I wouldn't base it off of Eisenberg at all.

I love Lauren Cohan but I really don't see her having the capacity to carry a role of that size. I dunno, could be way off base.

Feels odd to cast two high profile actors for just the opening of BvS. Might as well use them for the Flashpoint story. Martha-Joker has always been an interesting character so I would love to see it on the big screen
jerryblake
jerryblake - 7/23/2017, 11:43 AM
so Ben will have at least cameo at the end of the movie ?
IronMandarin
IronMandarin - 7/23/2017, 11:52 AM
@jerryblake - He has to be in it, even if its just the final 5 minutes.

Barry has to give him the letter from Thomas Wayne. The letter can inspire him not to be a murderer and in turn and we can finally get a fully accurate Batman that doesn't kill in live action.
jerryblake
jerryblake - 7/23/2017, 11:57 AM
@IronMandarin - but i thought he has changed after Superman died.
pure parademons.
IronMandarin
IronMandarin - 7/23/2017, 11:59 AM
@jerryblake - Yeah, but assuming how far Barry goes back in time they can make it so that he's never murdered anyone at all essentially reducing his body count from BvS to zero.
IronMandarin
IronMandarin - 7/23/2017, 11:44 AM
I absolutely adore the Ragnorok and Infinity War trailers, but for me personally DC won Comic Con with one word.

Flashpoint.

Just the thought of Jeffrey Dean Morgan as psycho Thomas Wayne breaking Ezra Miller's fingers gets me hyped.
JohnGrayson
JohnGrayson - 7/23/2017, 11:50 AM
@IronMandarin -

IDK about that. A part of me still wishes they had made some director and casting announcements. Like announce the nightwing movie, chris mckay comes onto the stage or better yet, Robert zemekis makes an appearance and the crowd just roars into applause. that would have been a perfect way to drop the mic. Either way im happy with the news they gave us.
IronMandarin
IronMandarin - 7/23/2017, 12:00 PM
@JohnGrayson - Agreed. Some more information or better yet an actual release date would have been nice.

But just the knowledge that its actually happening is enough for me right now
Pedrito
Pedrito - 7/23/2017, 12:43 PM
@IronMandarin - They said Flashpoint and I (and many others) heard Reboot.
Which is a pretty big announcement indeed. But not a whole lot of content/dates/details, so meh

JohnGrayson - 7/23/2017, 11:45 AM
Ironically, had Jeffery dean morgan not have played thomas wayne in BvS he still would have been my top choice to play thomas wayne batman in flashpoint.
Forthas
Forthas - 7/23/2017, 11:46 AM
The reboot of the Batman universe is an insult to Zack Snyder. They should do a clean reboot instead of trying to remake what Snyder established.
Battabing
Battabing - 7/23/2017, 1:18 PM
@Forthas - They're not rebooting anything. I have a feeling the Flashpoint film won't be a direct translation any more than Civil War was. ry goes to him for help and they end up teaming up to take down Joker (Martha Wayne) and Reverse Flash.

But Jeffery Dean Morgan as the Flashpoint Batman?
Sign me the f.uck up.
Forthas
Forthas - 7/23/2017, 1:35 PM
@Battabing - If this is NOT a reboot of the universe, you mean to tell me that they are going to introduce yet ANOTHER Batman and Matthew Reeves has not even gotten his off the ground.

I find that hard to believe as it would confuse audiences, not to mention a female (Martha) Joker. Its a Reboot!
IDKwhatToChoose
IDKwhatToChoose - 7/23/2017, 1:49 PM
@Forthas - yep and with all the rumors about Ben AND an opportunity to cast a younger Bruce. Needs to be done. Just wish Ben would have played Thomas Wayne too, one last time in the suit
Battabing
Battabing - 7/24/2017, 9:55 AM
@Forthas - Matt Reeves can have his Batman take off. It doesn't stop Flash from meeting another Batman (who isn't Bruce Wayne) in an alternate reality. This is the kind of stuff Flash sees when he's off on his solo adventures. This is why I'm happy DC isn't tying all of their movies into one big screen TV show. Let the heroes go off on their wacky adventures.

There's absolutely no way that they don't use Jeffrey Dean Morgan again, it's just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
