Ron had high praise for George R.R. Martin, who was a staff writer on his CBS cult television series,
Beauty and the Beast. He said George's scripts were high quality, making them very distinctive and unique from the others. He always look forward to performing what George had written. And now that George's HBO series,
Game of Thrones is doing incredibly well many are wondering if Perlman would be a part of the cast at some point.
As for
Hellboy the actor still isn't confident that it will ever be made, but won't give up hope just yet. He believes the third part of the trilogy is necessary since it would answer many of the questions that were left open from the first two films.
I really enjoyed the first two films in the franchise, and would like to see a third, but I won't cry if it never gets made. They were entertaining movies, but they were as deep and meaningful as a kiddie pool. As for questions that need to be answered with a third, I don't know any off the top of my head.
If you remember, in January of 2011 Ron Perlman was out promoting his movie
Season of the Witch and during an interview with
io9.com the actor shared quite bit of details about the potential third film in the franchise.
The only thing I can share with you is we have this demon who is a victim of this Oracle, which is not negotiable. He's been summoned to the Earth for the destruction of mankind, and that’s non-negotiable. This whole notion that his nature, is the demon of destruction — against the way he's been nurtured by his father, John Hurt's character, to be kind and in the service of mankind. Those things are going to be in play in the third one. Then of course you have Liz pregnant with twins at the end of the second film. So you don’t know what those two offspring are going to be? Are they going to be more human? Are they going to be more demon? Are they going to be a combination of the two? And how is that going to play out, in terms of Hellboy's destiny. Which I say again is non-negotiable. So that’s the backdrop for the third film. And everything will be resolved, all these open-ended questions will finally be resolved. I don’t know how, he didn’t give me those details. But that's the backdrop for it. - Actor Ron Perlman (io9.com)
