When I heard that Netflix and Marvel were bringing Daredevil to the small screen, I couldn't help but grin. Now that I have finally watched it, I must say.. It's fantastic! There are so many other words I could use to describe it...
The characters were fleshed out, and I appreciate that greatly. Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil is excellent. He's funny, badass, quiet and a bit broken. The chemistry he and Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson have is nicely done. The lovely Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page is great as well, along with Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple. Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk? Brutal, sentimental, calm, and even broken himself. He has many layers to him, which make for a very good villain.
The fight choreography is awesome, no shaky cam or off putting editing, and the fight scene in the second episode (which I won't spoil) is one of the coolest fight scenes put together. It's very grounded, meaning no CGI, which is refreshing. The show is beautifully shot, having that "gritty" look.
The show overall is a great experience, and a huge step up over the 2003 Daredevil film, which lacked balance, although I thought Ben Affleck was pretty good in the title role.
Solid performances, great action and humor, and just a damn good show. I couldn't turn away, watching all the episodes in one sitting. I was satisfied, and cannot wait for the second season. I'd highly recommend it! Without a doubt this is one of Marvel's greatest achievements.
