Meh. Visually it looks great, nice to see(hear) Gyllynhall lose his American accent, Arterton is hot..but what separates it from any other Mummy type kids adventure movie which gives away every moment of the plot in the trailer? Not much so far..guess we'll see!

Like Rorschach mentioned, it looks good but seems to be playing it safe with the formula. I'm not huge fan of Jake Gyllenhaal, I find his face distracting, it's like he's in a constant struggle with gravity to not have the bottom portion of his face drop to the floor (his sister battles with the whole face). I was entertained by him in "Donnie Darko" and "Bubble Boy" but apart from that he has no draw power with me.

I'll probably rent this one.

I agree it looks like a safe bet kinda film. But then I liked Pirates of the Carribean, as I know many here didn't. I could see them going down a similar route and trying to make a big franchise out of this, but I honestly don't known enough about the original story. Is there enough in it milk it for three or four films?

What am I saying. This is Disney. Of course there is... ;)

Never played the video game, but this looks interesting.

The plot seems like a poor man's Lord of the Rings, but it also has some cool visuals.

Make movie, sell toys, build theme park ride, sell dvd's, etc.

@Skunk the Pirates of the Caribbean ride was built in the 1950's and the movie was based off of the ride.

It doesnt look too bad, and Jake Gyllenhall looks really good in the role

It has that Pirates of The Caribbean feel to it

But only time will tell if it is good or not

@Darth...because Hollywood is lazy. Take for instance Djimon Hounsou...he is the go to African guy. Even though his dialect is so different from the role he is playing. They are just a bunch of lazy, over paid twits! Its the same laziness that is bringing you MIB3 even tho the second one sucked like a pacifier. whats next? a movie adaptation of the smurfs? Fraggle rock? They are lazy and they Suck.
Totally random but what happened to Oded Fehr? I was gonna marry him. :(

Naveen Andrews. Thing is there are probably other actors who could have played this role but they just want a big name star to guarantee box office success.
Oded cut his hair.lol...no longer long and curly. He looked like Jesus at one point.

Well I think it looks similar to the game, & staying wiht the games canon makes perfect sense not to change it to much. I still havent' beat'in the last installment yet.

this does look like The Mummy. I think its the color choice. They chose to go w/ golds and mute sandy colors when they probly should've thrown in some royal colors like blue or purple. This looks more like the sequels to Sands of Time than the actual SoT! lol he had all his clothes in that one but now he's missing alot. And correct me if i'm wrong but did i see the "dark" prince? if they are gonna make a trilogy, they are going to run out of material by using it all in this one! lol

I think this is going to tank.. Jerry Bruckhemier like all well known producers just keeps looking to top his last movie and I don't think he succeeded.. I think Gylenhall was a bad choice to lead this movie.. I mean what an insult a Jewish dude playin the Prince of Persia?? WTF?? Are they trying to kill us? Stop insulting those people in Iran they have NUKES!! lol..
On a serious note.. I do think they could have found a persian to play this roll it's not like Gylenhall has any real fan base if the script was strong it would stand on it's own.. just another piece of crap I'll catch on Netflix.. at least the babe looks hot.. although not nearly as hot as some Persian women I've met..

Agreee with Tea and Rorshach. Its formulaic and over-stylized. It'll either be a lot of fun or a snore-session. I'm figuring on the latter. I think they should have taken a gamble, buck the trends and make Dastan a sodomite. A homosexual could be the lead, right??

Jesus could be white and a Persian, before the Arab Muslim hordes came and altered their culture, could have looked Dutch... Why not???

oh well i guesse thats ur jobs 2 bitch and moan..hmm the story line looks gd not great but good..the action looks to me very close 2 the game which is good aaaand the comedic chemistry between him and the girl adds well to the mix
