Fan Artist Exemplifies Edgar Wright's ANT-MAN Test Footage with Motion Storyboards

As we await the footage that's said to be released online soon, a talented artist has created a rough representation of Marvel's Edgar Wright-directed Ant-Man test reel shown at Comic-Con!

While Marvel Studios has a full slate of cinematic ventures forthcoming, mostly sequels with the exception of Guardians of the Galaxy, many fans are eager to see the potential of Edgar Wright's Ant-Man finally grace the silver screen. And that potential was teased during Marvel's panel at San Diego Comic Con this year where a test reel that Wright secretly directed was shown exclusively. And while many description are online, a talented artist that goes by Samurai Jack has drawn storyboards giving a rough representation by memory, having seen the reel during its Comic-Con screening. Check out the storyboards in motion below via ShartimusPrime.

Special thanks to @KnightGambit for the heads up. Anyhow, multiple Marvel reps have previously confirmed that the actual test footage will be released online for all to see, as soon as they figure out how; and also after the special effects are completed. And regarding a feature film, it's strongly believed that Edgar Wright will direct the tiny hero's cinematic debut after At World's End for a possible 2014 release. However, that reportedly all depends on scheduling. Be sure to check out Samurai Jack's DeviantArt profile! What do you think?

In addition to “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015, Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; and “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014.

@ThatSpiderKid man I really hope so! I'd like to see an announcement soon for a release date. We got the title card so we know they're serious about the film. I'm curious if it will be a part of Phase 2 or if we have to wait til after the Avengers sequel... hopefully not.

They really should have included the test footage for this or the iron man 3 trailer in the bonus features for the Avengers blu-ray. That would've been awesome and made up for the lack of special features. Oh well.

I really dislike Ant-Man. I simply don't see shrinking as a cool power.

with Edgar Wright in the director's chair, if done right this movie could be a winner.

Ant-Man is cool in the cartoon but I hope he doesn't only shrink I hope he goes all ape-giant shit, I would like it that way because communicating with ants and shrinking will NEVER EVER EVER be a cool power

I'm surprised that only now this is on CBM. This was put up on Shartimus's channel like days ago, and yet no one made news of it. Oh, well. Nonetheless though, I am impressed with how this is going for Ant-Man. Now I know that this is a rough storyboard draft for the reel footage, but I wonder if that's Ant-Man's official look for his on-screen debut. I'm liking the helmet for him, but I am a bit on the fence with his suit there (looks more like a type of leather jacket/pants costume). Still, I am impressed with this and I cannot wait for Marvel to get on the ball with this. Ant-Man FTW!!! ;)

@Charlie2094 - Agree with you there, man. If they could've added the test footage on The Avengers Blu-Ray/DVD set, that would be golden. But, you can't always get what you want, I guess. :)

Stay EPIC, my friends!

I think Wright is going to have some really interesting ideas for this character's action sequences.

yo ant man haters! his powers aren't just about shrinking and controlling ants and giant man just becoming a giant. there is so much more to the character that i feel most of you have overlooked. he's a genius scientist. if they focus on his aspect of always wanting to be in control of everything, mark millar did a nice take on giant man in the ultimates, but i feel thats too dark of a route. i feel edgar wright is going to focus more on the second ant man. which is not the route he should take. i get that it will make more of a heart warming story about a guy who's daughter is sick so he needs to steal the ant man suit to rob banks and then ends up feeling guilty about it. its a story of redemption. but i'd rather see hank pym, and janet. i like there dynamic. it would be a good juxtaposition against the avengers to have this bickering troublesome married couple. it just adds more tension to the group.

This test real makes me wonder if they are going to go with the Scott Lang/Eric O'Grady thief/spy route instead of making Pym Ant-Man.

There is a certain type of dexterity and deceit to the clip which suggests a master thief or secret agent rather than a genius scientist fighting bad guys.

Incredible Shrinking Man
Land of the Giants (sort)
Inner Space / Fantastic Voyage
Honey I Shrunk the Kids
Ant Man

The shrinking concept isn't new, so I dont see a problem.

@RamonSuarez Edgar said his too most inspiring comics were "The Man in the ant Hill" and "To Steal an Ant-Man" and has hinted that their would be a timeline issue with having Hank Pym in the Avengers so im betting Scott lange is featured heavily and will be the one to end up in an Avengers sequel

Everyone that isnt interested in ant-Man must not know anything beyond the name. Go read some comics, you're probably the same people that said Iron Man was a stupid idea until you saw the trailer and hopped on the bandwagon

I just can't wrap my head around all this Ant-Man love. No disrespect to his fans, but he and Wasp just seem so uninteresting to me.

I can see them as side characters, like Widow and Hawkeye, but I don't know if I'd be interested in centering one of our date nights around Ant-Man.

Why does one person use a Rob Liefeld pic & another use the name RobLiefeldFan..?
Are you guys trying to be ironic or do you really enjoy that useless asshat?

Oh..Ant-Man movie seems like a fun time if executed correctly.
(Rob Liefeld should be executed correctly too,as in lop off his hands.)

That was the basic flow of the test reel, although the suit looked a little more like an exoskeleton than a guy wearing spandex with a helmet.

Antman is not a secondary character like Hawkeye or Widow for one reason - he has a kickass archvillain, arguably the best available to the Marvel Cinematic Universe now that Loki and Skull have both been exhausted.

@RamonSuarez ahh but HAS Skull been exhausted? There seemed to be some bifrost action going when he picked up the cube so my bet is he comes back at some point. Hopefully ot in a Cap film (been there done that) but in and Avengers sequel or possibly even Thor or Guardians
