Vague Set Report From Marvel's Licencing Event For The Avengers!

For a Licensing Summit event, Marvel apparently invited several company reps to the secretive set of The Avengers. Though none-revealing, check out one of their reports!

Last week, Marvel Studios invited over 100 companies to the secretive set of their highly-anticipated film The Avengers, in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a “Licensing Summit.” With Upper Deck’s Entertainment Team luckily being one of those many licensees, they've now unveiled a vague, none-revealing report on things they saw & did. Read on below, and find out what they had to say.

On Wednesday we were on the actual set of the film and there was a lot going on. Marvel shared that it was the biggest set they had ever built and when we stepped on the bridge of the Avengers Helicarrier, we realized they were very serious. It was like the bridge of The Star Trek Enterprise on steroids, just amazing to behold.

We were not alone at this event as we joined with more than 100 licensees and potential licensees of Marvel with representatives from companies like Hasbro, LEGO, THQ, Disney and many more. As a die-hard fan of The Avengers, I wanted to snap some pictures so bad with my phone, but Marvel wasn’t going to have any of that. Anyone caught sneaking a photo would be quickly escorted from the premises and I didn’t want to miss any of this so my phone stayed in my pocket.

We got to check out some rough cuts of the film (which looked AMAZING by the way) and talk about how we can make the most of all our marketing efforts for this franchise. We are really excited about the opportunities with The Avengers to say the least and we have seen solid interest in our Iron Man and Thor trading cards so far. We expect to see the same with our Captain America product when that launches in June.

One of the biggest thrills was when the cast assembled for only their second public appearance since Comic-Con. Some of the actors were in costume like Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow). They were busy filming that day, but took some time out to visit with us which was really awesome.

Knowing how exaggeratively huge set pieces were for Marvel's Kenneth Branagh-directed THOR film, it sure brings excitement that The Avengers will have the largest with the Helicarrier. Anyhow, the site also says they know who 'The Avengers' will be battling, besides Loki, though that may have been revealed last week. What do you think?

Marvel's The Avengers picks up when an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security. And Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Tom Hiddleston & Stellan Skarsgård, the film releases May 4, 2012!

I expect we are going to get a rough trialer or at least a bunch of photo's for this at July's SDCC. It comes out too early to be represented next year.

Intruder - Exactly, I hate when bitches whine about shit like that. Grow a brain, you really think Marvel is going to dumb this down after all the years of work?

BTW, sweet DD pic!

@puyguy They did say rough cutS, so they could have been just bits of raw footage.)

Intruder: For the sake of argument say IM and The Hulk and Thor had a $150mil budget and an extremely large portion of that went into experimentation on how to achieve the exact effects (look) wanted for the film. It would probably go without saying that it should now be a little cheaper to duplicate those characters and their actions on screen now that they know how to do it, wouldn't you think?

Words cannot describe how excited I am for this movie! Massive fan of everything Whedon has does since the first season of Buffy, and then he gets the reigns to the maddest sounding movie of all time? Can't wait to see how he handles Thor and Iron Man. And something tells me he is gonna make Black Widow ten times better than she was in IM2 and Loki the best CMB villain ever.

The biggest set they have ever made, Avenger's Assemble F@#k YEA. Hey LeoAtrox that's a badass avatar. I would love to see the military showcased in the movie kinda like Transformer's did, and have Cap on the ground leading the the military/sheild agent's into battle.
